December 2010 Moms

I knew it was too good to be true!

Mackenzie actually went down without screaming at about 8:30pm. This has never happened. She normally fusses or is wide awake at this time and starting around 9:30 really starts to fuss so I try to get her ready for bed and rock her, etc. but she will cry from 9:30 - around 11, maybe midnight, before she finally goes to sleep. She will sleep till around 3 or 4 before she wants to eat again.

So down at 8:30, in my infinite wisdom, I stayed up with DH until 10:30. She was  up to eat 11:30, then 2:30, then 6. I managed to rock her back to sleep at 6 but she was up again at 7 and I gave in. ugh!! where did my baby go who could sleep 4-5 hours?!

DH told me "oh maybe it's just a growth spurt". Oh really DH?? just a growth spurt? then you come feed the growth spurt at one of her 5 million feedings throughout the night!

I know, right?! Are you pumping and giving the occasional bottle? I make sure DH has a bottle of BM ready to give her so that I can lay down and sleep between 10:00-ish and midnight-ish. Then, I get up and pump if she isn't ready to eat yet... or feed her if she is ready... and I'm able to ensure I've had a couple of hours rest before the guesswork that is the middle of the night!

  • I hear you...our LOs are the same age and Aiden has been doing great at going down and staying asleep from like 9:30 till like 1:30.  Then i feel like he is up every hour or 2 to feed.  I am wondering if it is another growth spurt.  I am looking forward to when he will sleep for a longer spurt after a night time feeding.
