Hi ladies! I am currently 7 weeks pregnant with baby #2! We are so so excited! I am really hoping to be able to have a VBAC! After I got my BFP I spent over an hour calling around to OB offices just trying to find a provider that will consider VBACs. I finally found an office that does, and I really liked the OB when I went for my first appt. He did a pelvic exam, and a u/s and we talked about a possible VBAC. He didn't have the records from my last birth so he couldn't give me a definitive yes yet, bu it looks like I will be a candidate for a VBAC, so long as the placenta isn't in the wrong place or there aren't any other factors that will exculde me later on down the line.
With DS I was induced on my due date with Cervadil in the evening with the expectation to start Pitocin in the morning. The cervadil started my contractions and I didn't even need the pitocin until after I had an epidural, as it slowed everything down. Once iwas dilated and effaced we pushed for 2 hours, but he just wasn't coming out, so the MD wanted a c-section. This was 18 hours in, and all drugged up, I think I would have agreed to any method that got the baby out! IMO the epidural was too strong. It didn't just stop the pain, it stopped the pain and the preessure... everything! I had no idea what I was pushing! I think that may have been a factor for me... so we'll give it another shot this time. I think this time I am going to try Bradley method as well.
Anyway, I am happy to be here and look forward to any advice anyone has to offer!! Thanks for reading!!
Re: Intro... I will try to keep it brief :)
Welcome to the board! Your c/s story sounds similar to mine--did the MD give you any explanation about why your baby didn't descend?
GL with your pregnancy and VBAC
Thanks ladies! I am so glad too that there is a place to get info and support about things like this!
@iris427: I was so drugged up and exhausted that I don't remember much... but I think he tried to say it had to do with the size of his head. But I think I just couldn't push him out because I had absolutely no feeling in the lower half of my body. Did your MD explain it to you?
Boy, do I understand being exhausted enough to agree to anything! I had gone through three days of back labor by the time a doctor came in and said, "I think we need to do a cesarean." She turned to me and said, "is that ok?" and my reaction was that they could take her out through my nose as long as it made the whole thing end.
Congrats on your pregnancy and on finding a supportive OB!
My doctor told me that my pelvis was too small and that I could never deliver vaginally unless I had a preemie. But my baby was malpositioned (sunny side up) and like you, I was completely numb from the epidural. So I think those might have been big factors and my new OB agrees. I guess we'll see what happens this time around.
