Has it been worth it? I guess it's one of those "good to have it if you need it" kinds of things?
We received something in the mail about signing up. It's only $54 for a year. It listed a lot of other places where you could get discounts, too.
If you have it, what benefits have you found?
Re: NBR: Does anyone have AAA?
I've had AAA since I was 18. My first car used to break down often, and the roadside assistance was invaluable. Also, because of my many years with AAA, DH and I got our auto and renter's insurance through them. The cost was about half of what we were both paying individually.
We've also received 10% discounts shopping at outlets.

Funny you should ask! We've had AAA for 15 years and we just decided not to renew it this year for the first time. It hasn't been worth the $75 a year we pay. We have 3 cars but it's not like we need a tow every year...in fact the last time I had to call a tow truck was about 8 years ago. The hotel discounts are nice but we just don't travel that often. And CVS pharmacy gives a discount on pet meds to AAA members but I could still pay cash for my pets' meds and come out ahead. I guess it just depends on your situation as to whether it's worth it.
We have AAA as a supplement to our auto insurance. Reading the fine print, I realized that my car insurance will only tow you to a garage within 10 miles of your point of breakdown. Living in the country and being frequent travellers on roads where there are no towns for hours on end.. that pretty much gets you nowhere! So we have AAA as well... it has much better perks. We use the AAA discount at the zoo, restaurants, motels, etc. It usually pays for itself each year.

I've had it for 19 years (since I got my first car). I love it, I love having the peace of mind it provides. I've used it many times for many different things (mostly when I lock my keys in my car).
IMO it's totally worth it.
This! And we actually just used it when DH's started died - they came to us on a Sat night. Plus, don't forget amusement park discounts - we saved tons on a trip to Disney, trips to Cedar Point, etc.
I've had it since I was 18. I agree - it is one of those things that I'd rather have just in case. I tend to only call them once a year, but they come in handy. I also love their free maps and guides and try and get even a guide to our state once a year for changes.
I've used the AAA discounts at Lenscrafters about 2 years back and got a good deal. I will admit - I probably don't use this aspect as much as I should. (note to self - go check out the discounts).
We get it free through DH's work, but we've used it a few times. During our move, DH locked the keys inside our UHaul van, and UHaul gave us the number of a locksmith who was going to charge us $150 to get the door open. The AAA guy got the van unlocked in less than a minute, and it didn't cost us anything. We use if for discounts at hotels a lot, too.
We have free roadside assistance for one of our cars, but AAA is definitely worth it if you have an older car.
