Showers (the bath kind, not party kind)

Sunday was bath night for D (we bathe her every other day) and we were running late so I decided to just bring her in the shower with me for a quickie.  I had not done this before, and I have to tell you, I loved it!  We have a large shower and a stool that I use when shaving my legs, etc.  I sat down on the stool and stood D up (held on to her - she cant stand on her own yet).  She loved it - she smiled so big, and cuddled up against my chest (when she wasn't trying to tweek my nips!).  And it was so cute holding my little wet naked baby!  I enjoyed it so much that we did it again last night.  At the end, I held her in my lap and she just LOVED reaching out, touching the shower spray.  When we're done, I call for DH and he comes with her towel and takes her to get dressed.  She's really slippery, so I have to be careful, but I really, really loved it!  Plus, I found it much easier on my back/knees since I didn't have to hunch over trying to wash her, etc.  Give it a try if you haven't already. Big Smile

  • Awww, so sweet.  I love showering with my baby.  It really is a wonderful skin on skin connection.  Then they get to old to see you in the bathroom - well, atleast for us since it is all boys.

  • Mommy/Daughter time!  How cool!  We have a removable shower head so Leah and I will sit in the tub and take a shower.  She loves it!  When the spray hits her she just leans back and relaxes.  She could stay in there (or her bath) all day.

  • We've done this a few times when traveling and no tub was available (or small enough to be convenient). I love it but she gets slippery and I worry I'll drop her!

I don't know if I would do it without having the stool to sit on - and our shower has tile floor, so not as slippery for her to stand on.  She is really slippery when I pick her up to rinse off or hand off to DH - I can't imagine standing and holding her the entire shower.

This. I just can't handle the slipperiness. I have been so afraid she would squirm and slip right out of my hands. I really do hate leaning over into the bathtub though.

  • So I guess I'm the only immature one that busted out a snort when reading the part about tweeked nips? :D hahaha

I actually used to shower with Sabrina when she was itty bitty and REALLY enjoyed it as well... loved being so close to her! Now, she's way too heavy to hold and while she stand and walks and all that jazz, I just can't imagine what she'd try to do. :)

  • I did one time not long ago & she screamed bloody murder. I had DH grab her before she slithered out of my arms.

Right?! I ended up each time kind of crouching down with her on my lap (when she was too little to stand) or holding her hands and letting her stand (when she was a little older). It always involves calling to DH to come get her to dry her off too!

  • I was thinking about trying this just this morning since Miller would not SIT in the bathtub.  Then I remembered how much he hates water in his face, so I am not sure he would be a big fan.

  • Probably 80-90% of the time we bathe L one of us is in with him (bath or shower). We like the bonding time, its easier to keep him from bonking his head or slipping, no strained back or knees from leaning over the tub and he loves to play with us. Win-win-win!

Pretty much the only time he is in by himself is if its just a quick clean up (no playtime) or if its a blow-out related washing. :)

  • I used to shower with S but ever since I weaned him I haven't let him see me topless....not sure when he will forget about the milk jugs and I can relax about that!
