  • Wow. That is a horrible burden to place upon someone. I am really against choosing  not to vaccinate, but placing someone personally responsible for the 'body count' is not right.

Actually, if I had to choose a person to pin it on, I'd go with that fvckfaced English doctor who started this bullshiit in the first place. What he did was criminal, IMO.

Her misguided words and inexplicable influence have consequences.  She is still blindly defending "Dr." Wakefield and the damage he's created with his outright lies.  She can shoulder some of the blame.

  • I think in the end she was going off that quack's theory.  He is the one truly responsible for starting this mess.
  • I dunno, I'm a little torn here.  She honestly thought that was what caused her son's autism and tried to 'prevent' the same thing from happening again.  As twisted as it is, she had good intentions. Is she at fault?  Sure.  But I don't think the blame rests purely on her.

    I have to agree!!

  • There's a lot of blame to be placed on the parents.  A little bit of research would have told them the links were questionable to begin with....that and like 99.9% of pediatricians recommending vaccination.

I agree. I also blame the parents who never did any research, the ones that went blindly off of what a celebrity told them was truth. I still to this day have friends who are afraid to give certain vaccines because they are afraid they will make their child sick. Not because their doctor said it, or because they did some research to suggest it, but because that is what they have 'heard'. It is truely sad.

  • The blame surely doesn't rest only on her.  It rests on the doctor and on the millions of people who blindly believed their words and spread the lies (granted they didn't think they were lies).

BUT... Jenny McCarthy is a celebrity and (some) people listen to the crap that celebrities say for whatever reason and take it as fact.  With something as important as the lives of children, I would think you'd DEFINITELY want to have your facts straight before you go telling parents not to get vaccines for their children.

Also, this deserves a repost, just because I love it.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfdZTZQvuCo

Absolutely! But Jenny McCarthy used her celebrity status to promote her personal opinion without considering the consequences.

  • Honestly she tried some things and she noticed an improvement on her son's autism and she was spreading the word. If you thought you found a cure for something and had power to tell a large audience (of parents) than I am sure many of us would be just as guilty.
