North Carolina Babies

***Juber***

Love your new siggy pic!  I wondered what you and Alex found to do while you were on maternity leave, I'm only on week 3 and have cabin fever so bad!!  It doesn't help that the weather has been so cold, we can't even get out for a walk in the neighborhood!  Any good suggestions for me and Annabelle?

  • Hi!  Well, I asked on The Bump if anyone local wanted to meet up - and we did! Wink

Other than that, I ventured out to check out parks, areas of the city, and hiking spots when I was feeling up to it - Nanny Mountain, sat and read at McDowell park, some other parks along Lake Wylie, drove around downtown Rock Hill.  It's a great time to roam the mall (with Annabelle sleeping in a stroller) and see what non-preggo clothes are in fashion.  I spent WAAAY too much at Target and Marshalls.

And of course - SLEEP!  Nap without feeling guilty.  Snuggle your sweet baby girl all you can.

I have to run - but will shoot you an email soon.  Have fun!

  • I still feel like its too early to get out in a crowd with her, but definitely plan on venturing to the mall and Target once she's a little bigger.  At what age did you start taking Alex out?  I'd love to get outside but having days when it doesnt get out of the 40's makes that hard.  I'll definitely have to meet you for lunch a few times too.  Wink

  • butting in, we had ds out to target almost daily starting with our first day home from the hospital lol.  since you said you were worried about having her out in public so soon, you could always just keep her car seat covered w/the sunshade or a light blanket to keep strangers at bay.

i think i would have gone nuts w/o little trips like that!  good luck!

  • We had Alex out very few times over the first two weeks, and I was pretty timid about it.  Once we did start taking him out, it was like 'Game on!'  We realized how easy he is to bring along - he slept pretty much the whole time.  I think you have to go with your gut.

As for making plans, I found that one day I would feel energetic, restless and bored, and the next exhausted and overwhelmed.  It's okay to set low expectations and jump in only those days when you feel up to it.
