RE visit and a plan! (kinda long)

So we had our follow up visit at the RE this morning to discuss our next step since my last fermara cycle had to be cancelled. We have added me to DH's insurance plan which has excellent IF coverage. Basically everything is 100% covered including IVF. However, I think we have to fail 3 IUI's before they will cover IVF.

My best friend is getting married in Denver on Oct 7th, 2011 and I'm in the wedding. As much as it sucks we are going to take a 1.5 month break so I that I won't be in late 3rd tri so that I can go to her wedding. I wish we didn't have to but it means so much to me to be there so it is what it is.

I'm going to start BCP's in a few weeks so that I can "refresh" everything and then get AF sometime mid Feb. We will be doing the lowest dose of Menopur injects (50 IU, I think??) with an IUI. We are so excited to be moving forward and so grateful that we have such wonderful insurance.

Does anyone else have an "event" or something that they would take a break from TTC for?

Yay for a plan!! And that's so great that everything is covered. I think there a lot of people who wouldn't take a break for anything at this point, but I think it's really amazing that you are taking a break for your best friend's wedding. It is one of the most important days of her life and I am sure she is going to be so thankful to have you there by her side. We have taken a break for other reasons before, but if I had my best friend's wedding coming, I would do the same as you.

I actually have one of my best friends getting married sometime this year. She hasn't set a date yet, but I told my husband if at all possible I'd like to make sure I can make it. She has said summer or November. I decided I won't stop trying until she sets a firm date, and then if I have to take a month or two off I will do it since I will have to fly to get to her wedding.

I think that's sweet of you both to take time off for things. It's a hard decision considering having a baby is so important to us and apart of me selfishly feels like I am rearranging my life for her but when it comes down to it I can't stand the thought of missing her wedding. I am the one that convinced her that she needed to keep dating her FI back in college bc he was a good guy

Her FI claims that he is giving me a toast at the wedding to thank me for talking her into giving him a chance

When we first started ttc I prob would have taken time because I tried to plan everything out. I'd find myself saying ok if this cycle works this means it interferes with blah blah or blah. I would stress myself out over what I'd say or how far along I'd be and all that stuff. I've since realized that its not possible to "plan" anything. Someone asked me the other day if I was going to plan out having the baby more towards the summer since I'm a teacher. I told her that ship sailed and I was done tryingf yto plan stuff. Whenever I get pregnant I do no matter what is happening. My best friend got engaged xmas morning and is planning an engagement party this may and her wedding may 2012 at least she thinks. She knows of our struggle and that we are prob facing ivf so that whatever happens happens. If we do ivf in april I will be due in dec or jan leaving me with a newborn for her wedding. I'm not gonna want to leave the baby but it is what it is. It may come off selfish but I am not putting anything on hold. I also do not have to travel far for her weddingf either. I do worry about my baby shower getting in her way and her bridal shower as well. I am also to assume I will be in her wedding. Our other best friend was married in April and is going to start ttc and also already told her that she is not putting anything on hold and that she might be 4 or 5 month along by the time her wedding comes. I think its amazing of u to do so. I guess if I had to fly or travel far I'd consider it too. Sorry this was long! GL

Jez, for some reason your post made me laugh. I don't know why it just did

haha I totally understand not waiting for anything. This is the only thing we would put off TTC for and I know it's killing DH a little. But I did commit to being in the wedding at the start of our TTC journey and naively I thought that I'd have a baby well before the wedding. Now it looks like I'll be lucky to be in a maternity dress. Here's hoping... Smile

Congratulations on the plan! That's awesome that his insurance is going to cover everything.

We never had to take a TTC break but if I had to I would. DH said at the beginning that we would not be trying when my due date would fall during hunting season. We never took a break over that, he never tried to figure out when that would be and I never told him. Now he could care less. Good luck!

When I first started TTC I took a break for my sister's wedding. Well her wedding was since called off!!

Now that we are at the point we are at with our troubles I'm not putting it on hold for anything. Period. Even if it means being a bridesmaid at 9 months pregnant. It's just been too long of a journey for us at this point.

I def. think this is a personal decision though and props to you for taking the break

Holey geebus you are so lucky to have awesome insurance! I hope you don't even need to get to ivf though!
