Vacuum Cleaners...

Ok ladies, sorry this will be a P&R, but a friend of mine is almost here. My vacuum cleaner just died. I mean it was smoking and everything. So, now I'm in desperate need of a new one. I've been thinking about getting the dyson animal. Anyone have one? If so, how long have you had it? (or even just a dyson in general.) Also, please recommended your vacuum!! How do you like it. I'm hoping to get something that will last a little longer than 3 years... TIA!

Re: Vacuum Cleaners...

  • hi Daysie! I am a Dyson lover. I *think* mine is the animal... it's purple. Its amazing. We definitely did the whole vacuum with our old one, then go back over with the Dyson. Its insane. I must, especially once you have a baby that will be crawling all over the floors :)

  • I have a friend who has a Dyson Animal, and she adores it.

Can't recommend you anything myself, we're using an old Dirt Devil clunker lol.

  • I have the Dyson Animal - the purple one! We love it, and have two very hairy very large dogs. I like how easy it is to empty the can of gross fur and dust - no messy bags or anything.

imageIt is the first thing MH ever bought on credit and that was about 10 years ago. It still runs perfectly fine and we had no trouble at all with it yet!

  • I really wish we had a vacuum system installed in the house.....my parents do and that would be super nice, but as soon as ours dies, which I know it will....... We are getting a dyson as well! We actually tried one at Sears the other day and LOVED it!

  • I have heard great things about dyson. I have an Oreck that I love. I've had it for 7 years now with no problems. And it's so light!

  • We have a Dyson too but ours is not the Dyson Ball and I think having the ball would be easier!  That thing is heavy to move!!!

  • Dh just bought me a dyson for christmas and I love it! Very good suction! I have the yellow one...it is a multifloor model. Not sure what it is called, but it is on the smaller side.

  • Hey Hun! I have a friend with a Dyson and she swears by it! Based on the reviews I would say it's a safe bet. If I can afford a new vacuum cleaner in the future I will definitely be getting one! Good luck deciding.

I have the same one.  We've had it for over 4 years - best vacuum I've ever owned!  It was the first thing I bought when we built our new house.  We got it at Bed, Bath and Beyond with one of their 20% off coupons.  It makes a big difference because they're expensive!

  • We were all set to buy a Dyson and we ended up seeing the Electrolux Ultrasilencer and bought it instead.  We needed a cannister vacuum after moving into a house with almost all HWF.  I love it because it is SO quiet, is easy to move around, has a cord keeper that it sucks in by itself, and works great at picking up all the dog hair from our two dogs.  It was cheaper than the Dyson too, so it worked out nicely.

  • Totally jumping over from Aug11, but I had to! My new vac JUST came today, I cleaned the whole house, and I LOVE it!!! It was super pricey- $600, but it's a Miele Titan. The thing is insanely powerful, shockingly quiet, and still SMALL!! I was able to do the whole house at about 2/3 full power & it still sucked like a beast! Best purchase I've made in a long time. I did a ton of research on them & they're the BMWs of vacuums- 7 year warranty & most people have them well after that mark. Good ole' German engineering...

Miele makes a whole slew of different models though- many a lot cheaper than the Titan (and some much more)- it just depends on the features you need. I would definitely look into them- they're at least worth a look. Amazon has free shipping/no tax too, plus lots of reviews on all the models to read.

  • Ladies! Thank you so much for your help! I'll definitely be looking into the other models recommend here! And comparing them. It's just so difficult. We had the Bissle for just under 3 years...  I was a little sad when it died on us.... DH is going to take a look at it to see if he can fix it, but I have a feeling he will be leaning towards just investing into a new better vacuum... We will see.
  • Love love my Dyson animal! Go for it!
