Hey ladies! I know we have a lot of things going on with this board lately, and I sure hate to add something else, but I have a desperate prayer request.
I am asking all of you to pray for my Pastor's 4-year old granddaughter. Her and her parents also attend our church, so we have known this little girl since she was born. In July of 2010 Kiersten's body began to look swollen. Her body was
retaining too many fluids. After many trips to the doctor and multiple
tests, she was diagnosed with FSGS with a collapsing variant (FSGS with
mesangial hypercellularity.) Her very specific type of this disease is
the first case ever recorded. Since then she has been in and out of the
hospital multiple times, is on a very strict diet, and has to take
aggressive medications. As of last week, her kidneys were only
functioning at about 30% of what they should. They traveled to Vanderbilt this week to meet with doctors there to get them familiar
with her case, and had begun discussing dialysis and transplant options.
Well, this morning Kiersten stopped breathing at Vanderbilt and needed CPR. She is in serious condition and being moved into ICU.
Please pray for this sweet girl, her sweet family, and for the doctor's knowledge. he cause is unknown and there is no known cure. The disease is so rare that the doctors say Kiersten's case is unique and they do not know how to treat her!
TIA!
