Babies: 9 - 12 Months

my DD just started shaking?

My DD was happy and playing and all of a suden she got upset and her whole body was shaking. I picked her up to try and come it, but it wouldn't stop. Our house is warm, she felt warm to touch and I took her temp and she is normal. The shaking stopped after a minute or so and now she seems fine. Has anyone heard of this? It freaked me out and I am not sure if I should call her pedi or if this is just one of those baby things? Any advice? TIA!

  • Was she alert while she was shaking? I would probably call the pedi, they may want to see her. Has it happened before?

She was alert, she seemed frusterated while it was happening. Its never happened before and shes fine now. It was just weird and now I am a little scared.

  • I don't want to scare you but the fact that she continued to shake after you picked her up sounds sort of like a seizure.

  • ditto on calling the pedi. Was it like shivering, or hard shaking like her muscles were spasming?

Ditto.  Hopefully your DD just had a mild wow moment. Good luck.

And don't worry if you hear EEG it is an easy test and no pain if there is a possible seizure. EEG test the brain responses and they test while baby naps in your arms.

  • Thanks everyone. i have an appointment for her tomorrow morning. Her pedi said since it hasn't happened before and still hasn't happened again, that he doesnt think it is anything serious. I hope he is right. I am still a little scared cause the pedi office and drs here are horrible.
