What the hell is this "smooshing" business? Unless you're into wearing furry costumes while you have intercourse the word "smoosh" ishould not come into play.

I was just trying to add a little levity to what I consider a serious situation.

some people and/or their husbands have weird and cutesy names for it. So what? My husband calls it "getting tender". We're not smashing any meats with a pulverizer, but so what?

That is awesome! We usually refer to it as "jamming" or "let's jam." But in light of the 3rd season of Jersey Shore starting tonight I brought out the "smoosh."
At least they're not saying "BD". That is, by far, the worst.
Smush makes me think of Jersey Shore too. Can't wait for tonight's premiere!

Ohh I read the smoosh post as DH was afraid to smoosh the baby (during sex). I get it now, I have never seen Jersey Shore so I am a bit slow to the game.
I usually say "Wanna do it?" and DH says I am not romantic
That's part of it, so smoosh may have actually been a pretty appropriate euphemism, hahahaha. And, I just spotted the menorah in your siggy pic and realized that your doggies are representing both Christmas and Hanukkaah! Very cute.
I am wayy too excited about this. I've checked and re checked to be sure it's set to record. lol. DH even verified last night. haha

BD = Big Deed, aka baby making sex. Commonly used on the Trying to Get Pregnant Board, it gets lots of slack.
I'm right with you on the Jersey Shore, had no idea.
And I usually don't call it anything at all, but after my recent bout of pelvic rest, I was very unoriginal and said, "So, wanna have sex?" DH was like, "well that's very smooth of you. And yes."
Shut up. How's that for mean?
Haha- my husband says that too- I always ask him what happened to the romance when we use to just go for it- now I get "so...wanna do it?" makes me laugh though:)

I thought BD meant baby dancing, which is horrid.
Oh yeah, that too, which I think has the same baby making meaning.
I much prefer BD meaning the big deed rather than baby dance. Baby dance is just... icky.
Also, I opened this thinking OP was overreacting to people saying they're finding out the baby's gender.

Me too! Imagine my surprise when I realized it was in response to me using "smoosh" instead of SEX in an earlier post! I like where it turned though, we all have such interesting terms for SEX.
i seriously had no idea that people had so many names for having sex. is it because people are afraid to say, "let's have sex!"? or is it just about trying to be cute?
i worked with teenagers in the past and i always told them if they can't say it, they shouldn't be doing it.
I don't think it's necessarily either -- it's just about being fun with your partner. my husband and I still say the F word, still say sex, and sometimes use the "getting tender". Once when I got trashed with my husb I asked what the deal was with the "tender" thing and he said guys say stuff like that to look less vulnerable if we aren't in the mood and they get shot down. Or if they can make us laugh, we usually put out. heh.

Sam is not mean. She is as gentle as a newborn lamb.
But even newborn lambs think it's awful when grown women can't even call sex for what it is.
