Trouble TTC

Newb from TTGP (long)

Hey girls,

Just wanted to say hi and write a little introduction. Not sure how much I will post here just yet as I am still learning. I will probably do more lurking than posting. DH and I have been technically trying to conceive for 6 cycles/6 months (this cycle would have been our 7th cycle but we were requested to take it off due to RE's request to get the Rubella vaccine).

Back in August I started having pretty intense pain on my lower left side near my pelvic area. After several ultrasounds and laparascopic surgery I was diagnosed with stage 1 endometriosis. The OB mentioned it was so painful because it is sitting on the uterosacral ligament which is a nerve behind the uterus. She was unable to remove the endo because of where it was located and it would have been too much of a risk. Her suggestion was to go on Lupron for 6 months and then continue TTC after. I honestly didn't believe that this was the best option for us. There were just too many side-effects IMO. DH and I decided to go get a second opinion to see if it could be removed. If I hadn't been in so much pain we would have just continued TTC for a total of a year then seek help from an RE.

DH and I called a few different RE's and found one in Boston that sounded promising. He is a little bit older but has 40 years of experience!! Our main goal was to meet with him and see if he could remove it via surgery. He said right away that he doesn't recommend the surgery to get rid of it but he did recommend pregnancy. HA! Easier said than done. He said that this is the best treatment for endo especially since that is what we are looking to do in the first place. I had told him that DH and I were trying for about 6 months. I also mentioned that I had been of birth control for over a year and a half. We were never really preventing pregnancy so he believed that we might have some other issues.

He was right. After a very painful SHG, blood work & SA for DH, we have 3 minor issues that may be causing a bigger issue. 1. Extremely tight cervix (hence the very painful SHG.. they had to use 4 different sized tools to "pry" me open, OUCH!) 2. stage 1 endometriosis & 3. DH's SA came back that he has 3% morph. We will be starting 3 ?good? cycles of IUI?s and Feb and if those don?t work then onto IVF.

Any advice or encouraging words would be helpful!

Thanks for reading! Looking forward to getting to you know you all!

  • Welcome :) Don't hesitate to post here, it's been pretty slow as of late and the girls on here are terrific :)

I don't have any advice on the endo or your cervix, but I wouldn't worry too much about your H's morph.  MH's morph is also at 3% and I had to raise the issue with my RE who responded that it was only 1% off the minimum, not a big deal.  Urologist said the same- it shouldn't be a problem getting pregnant with that number (they are concerned about his volume). Morph is one of those things that doctors don't really agree on in terms of importance.  As long his counts are high and his motility is good, I wouldn't stress about that.  I hope the IUIs are the answer for you guys, it sounds like given your diagnoses, you have a good chance of them working.  Good luck!
