So last night my DH and I went out to dinner to a super nice restaurant with another couple. No special occasion, except that DH got a bonus from work and we treated ourselves.
I ordered the penne pasta with cream sauce and chicken. Turns out the sauce had gorgonzola cheese in it. Didn't realize till I got home and googled gorgonzola that it's not a cheese you are allowed to eat while pregnant. So I immediately freaked out and my body must have been mad at me, because I was in the bathroom until 1am! I was miserable and now I'm totally worried about LO.
Tell me I'm overreacting. Right?
Re: Damn it gorgonzola cream sauce!
I eat bleu cheese. Most bleu is pasteurized. Even if it's not - it was cooked. Which means it was heated enough to kill any bacteria.
I'm sure you are fine.
Yeah... I don't think even unpasteurized soft cheeses are on the no-no list if they are heated to the point that bacteria would be killed. My understanding has been that, for example, gorgonzola on pizza or in a dish would be totally fine without even needing to try get the waiter to find out if they use pasteurized gorgonzola.
(Besides the fact that 99+% of the time you would be fine even eating cold unpasteurized soft cheese, since 99+% of the time it doesn't have listeria living in it.)
I became a rule breaker in moderation after 1st tri
The steak gorgonzola at Olive Garden is delicious!
