Babies: 3 - 6 Months

How to keep baby from moving in crib?

Below, is how I find my son every single morning. I put his head right at the top of that white mat and he inches himself all the way down to the corner of his crib. He woke up at 3 this morning because his face was smack dab against the side of the crib. I repositioned him back in the middle. I heard him crying at 6 this morning, so I go in there and find him in the corner, again! *sigh*

Is there any way to stop this from happening...?

  • I dont know if there is a way to stop it, but if there is...I need to know because my DD does the same thing.  Sometimes she even ends up with her head where her feet used to be but for some reason she is ALWAYS jammed up at the corner of the crib against the bars just like your LO.  Makes me nervous too.

  • I was told to take a towel or blanket and roll it up and position it in a "u" shape and position underneath their knees and then have the ends up under their arms.  I do this with my son in his swaddle and although he still does move, it seems to keep him in his current position longer.  I haven't experimented with what I'm using, so far I've just done it with a receiving blanket.

  • Duct tape! lol...just kidding. I don't think there is a good answer to it. Since we're not suppose to put anything in there with them. But you also you gotta do what you gotta do. Maybe a sleep positioner?
  • I 2nd the duct tape, lol.

I tried this too, and he ended up sideways next to the towel, lol. They do have positioners that look like two triangles with a strap that goes underneath the baby, but I have no idea of the safety ratings or concerns with those. I'm sure it could be about the same as the rolled up towel though.

thats what I use....on all my kids actually.

Ash is all over the place too...makes me nutty-er

  • My LO is all over the place and started about 4 months really moving and shaking around in her crib. I was told that motor development is at its prime at night during sleep and they should be moving. You want them to scoot around and roll and move.
