Trouble TTC

Male Clomid Question

I just got off the phone with my H's Urologist. He recently had 2 more SA's of which showed low sperm count (12 mil), Poor Motility (30 and 50), and Poor Morphology (head neck and tail defect moderate to abundant)

From these results they prescribed Clomid. Doing some research I thought Clomid didn't work for motility if a morphology issue was present. Has anyone else had or heard of a similar problem? Success or failure?

TIA

Re: Male Clomid Question

  • My DH took it and it did help his count quite a bit but his motility actually got worse.  My Re does not consider 30% or 50% bad though...My DHs went from 20% to 10%.

We were not able to know the morph because they can't ckeck that during IUI because you have to kill the sperm and look at it mounted on a slide.  For his 2 SAs though it was 2% norm before clomid and 4% after.

My DHs count went up a lot!  (I think from 11mill to almost 30 million) so if yours goes up that much and keeps the same motility, I think you would be in pretty good shape for an IUI have a good shot.

It did give my DH more energy too so that is a plus.  GL!

  • We put DH on clomid to up his testosterone production.  We hoped it would cause sperm production but nothing.  It seems like it completely killed his sex drive.
