Daycare providers near Mt. Washington

Hi ladies,

DH and I are expecting our first, due July 3rd, and aren't really sure how to go about finding a daycare provider.  We are originally from western Pennsylvania and have lived in the Baltimore area for a little over 3 years now.  We are the first in our group of friends to have kids and we both work in the inner harbor and the people we work with that have kids don't live in the same area as we do.  We also aren't sure how early we should start looking.  Any advice, suggestions, daycare reccomendations would be greatly appreciated!  Feel free to PM me if you don't want to share your own daycare info publicly.

    There is a La Petite Academy on the grounds of Sinai hospital, which is right by Mt. Washington.  They take infants starting as young as 6 weeks.

    Hi! So funny! We're expecting our first on July fourth and are moving to the Mt. Washington area this spring. I just started thinking about this, as well. We'll have to keep one another updated for sure. Have you considered a nanny? We are weighing the pros and cons of both. Best of luck and keep us posted on your findings!

    Unfortunately, I'm no help, but just want to mention that I am also looking for childcare in the Mt. Washington area (ideally a nanny-share), so I am interested to see what other responses you receive. We are expecting our first on 1/17 and would need care beginning in mid-April. I will post here with updates re: what we figure out for childcare, in case others may find it helpful. Thanks!

    Good luck!  I have a friend that had a terrible time looking for daycare in that area.  She initially looked into the Greenspring corridor and could not stomach the costs of all the private school daycares around there.  She had to branch out to Owings Mills and Reisterstown and then ended up using a Jewish affliated one.

    Have you tried mdchildcare.org?  You can search for providers on there by your area.
