Seems like everytime I get off the phone or leave an appointment I have more questions but never realize it until I get hoe and have time to think.
So I am on day 10 of BCP's and the RE nurse called me today. She said they like to do IVF's in small groups. They have one women who started her BCP's today and one who will start Sunday. Nurse told me to continue my pills, not to take the sugar pills and as soon as the other ladies catch up she will get me started on my meds. So while talking to her I realized that I guess I won't have a period this month. Will I have one before I start all the meds? What drug will I take first Lupron? Do I stop the BCP's first, I assume I would.
Sorry if these seems like basic questions, it is all new to me and I feel completely out of control or rather that I have no control.
Thanks!
Rachel
Re: First time IVF'er...questions
i did this for my first cycle. my clinic needed to manipulate my cycle in order to coincide with my DH's urologist's vacation schedule.
what happened for me was:
- i started a new pack of BCP without taking the sugar pills
- my clinic told me which day to start lupron
- they told me which day should be my last day of BCP
- i got my period while i was on lupron, then i started stims.
good luck!

Did your RE not give you a calendar with all the med dates for your IVF cycle? It is extremely helpful...
I started the BCP, then like 10 days later I started the Lupron. The calendar said which day to stop the BCP & I had a faint period/spotting a couple of days later. Stopped Lupron shortly after & started stims.
I'm sure they will tell you exactly which day to stop bcp and which day to start lupron. It may vary based on protocol, but I had to overlap bcp's and lupron for 5 days, then wait for a period (came about 6 days later) and then start stims. HTH.
Good luck!
