What to do for crazy hair?

DS has super fine hair that is still not completely grown in yet. The only way to get his hair managable is to get it wet and brush it into place and let it dry that way. We give him a bath before bed and in the morning its all over the place and kind of frizzy. I hate wetting his hair down before we go outside in the cold, plus I don't always have time to restyle it. Do you girls have any ideas? Should I try putting some gel in it or something?

DD's hair is very curly and crazy

We use a J & J shampoo for curly hair (it's a green liquid) and a l'oreal conditioner for kids that's tear free. It seems to help a little bit. Her hair looks best after it immediately dries. The next morning she looks like bob dylan LOL. That's when we resort to pigtails
