Early miscarriage symptoms...

I'm thinking I may have had a very early miscarriage cycle #1.  I looked up the symptoms out of curiousity and this is what stands out to me...

The symptoms of this type of early miscarriage is bleeding that is usually later and heavier than your normal period, but most women just assume they're having a late period and have no idea they were even pregnant.

I thought I was KU last month...for sure!  I was late, my boobs were super sore (swollen too when never happens with normal AF), I was peeing like crazy, and mild cramping.  I POAS like 4 times and all were BFN.  I finally started AF 5 days late and it was a bit heavier than usual.  I'm NEVER late...always 28 days spot on.

So what's the deal?  You guys think I had an early miscarriage?  I wouldn't have even thought that's what happened but my BFF said that's what it sounds like.  Do I need to see my doctor or anything?

Sorry if this is a touchy subject!!!

Re: Early miscarriage symptoms...

  • Obviously, I'm no medical professional, but I think if you did indeed have an early m/c, you are probably safe as long as you aren't experiencing any pain or fever. Sorry if this is what happened, m/c at any stage is difficult, but if I were you I would try not to dwell too much. I have a tendency to become super focused when I'm TTC, and often it causes more stress on me and my body than what I deserve. Good luck and try to enjoy the ride.
Um, yeah. The Bump be too crazy for pics of my kid.

  • I have never had a miscarriage, but I have been late a few times and thought I was pregnant.  I always tested negative and my period was quite heavy (much more than normal).  I always just assumed it was heavier because the uterine lining had an extra week to build up.  I would think a negative is a negative.

No pain or fever.  I feel fine.  I'm not upset at all...just curious if that's what happened?  I guess I'll never know.  I am VERY anxious this time around TTC which isn't helping at all.  I wish I could just forget about it and get a surprise BFP like last time!!!

    Thanks for the advice!

I agree with HTL, with my first m/c, I probably would have never known I was even pg, but had had some bloodwork ran the Friday before, and the gynocologist happened to check my hcg levels.  As long as you're not feverish, in pain, or passing clots (this is what happened with my 2nd m/c) I think you're fine.  You're body just did what it needed to do, if that's the case.

  • I had one with my first pregnancy. But I got a BFP 2 days after AF was due, and then started bleeding 2 days after that BFP. When I saw the dr, she told me that they don't recommend testing until you're a week late, because this type of m/c happens often, and it's just upsetting. There's nothing they can do medically after it happens, so I would try not to dwell on it much. If that is what happened, there's no need to see anyone if you're feeling ok. GL TTC! :)

  • This similar thing happened to me recently. I was CERTAIN I was pregnant but got my period a few days later than normal. I feel like what happened was that an egg was fertilized but didn't stick to the uterine lining.  I am still nursing and definitely think I have luteal phase issues so I think I can get a fertilized egg but that second part just doesn't stick because I don't have a strong enough lining.  Stinks either way...
  • Before LO, I had a m/c at 5 weeks.  I had similar symptoms to those you describe except that I had a BFP and had HORRIBLE cramps.  I usually have pretty bad cramps but these were the worst.  If I hadn't known I was pregnant, I'm sure I would have at least thought something was going on as my bleeding was extremely heavy, lasted twice as long as my normal period and the cramps were unbearable.  I'm sure like pregnancy and parenthood, m/c are probably different from woman to woman and pregnancy to pregnancy.

  • I don't know if you miscarried or not, but I had the same thing - I am always 28 days exactly. Two months ago, AF was a week late and I was nauseous and had mild cramps (like I did with DS), but it showed up eventually and was slightly heavier than normal. I don't think I was pg though, because the same thing happened again the next month, minus the symptoms. Weird though.

Yeah it's possible my cycle is just changing.  I'm not gonna worry about it either way.  What's done is done and time to look forward.

Thanks for all the responses ladies!!!  Big Smile

  • I didn't ready the responses, but I wanted to just say, it's possible.  I had a chem preg in the beg. of Dec.  My MW said, it's actually very common.  But if you aren't trying, and aren't testing, you wouldn't know. You'd just think it's a heavier than normal flow, and that for whatever reason AF was late.  She said it happens more than you would think.

  • I had a chem pregnancy before ds#1. Af was late. I tested bfn. Tested again the next day bro but the line wasn't very dark. Started bleeding heavily 4 days later and it lasted about ten days.

  • A negative is a negative. You tested after AF was due. You were not pregnant. You did not miscarry. Don't decide you had a miscarriage. Why would you even want to think that?
  • I've had several cps.  Each one, I got a BFP including on a digital, and positive betas that either did not rise or dropped suddenly.

    No BFP = no m/c.
