Gross, dumb MP question. (sorry)

I had hoped that this time around I wouldn't need to ask rookie questions, but I never lost my MP with my older daughter so here it goes.

Woke up this morning, went to the bathroom. When I wiped this big nasty string of mucus was coming out of me. I kind of pulled on it (told you it was gross) and the rest came out. After all was said and done there's this thick glob of nasty stuff bigger than a quarter. I kind of assume it's my MP, but 2 things make me think maybe it isn't:

1) It came out as a big string rather than a clump, and

2) it was yellow (my usual discharge color) with only a few VERY tiny specks of red-ish brown. When I say tiny, I'm talking like the size of a sesame seed. There weren't any of the typical "streaks" of blood that you hear about.

WDYT? 

Hope none of you were eating as you read this. :)

 

ETA: I also had my membranes stripped yesterday morning, so that could've stirred things up. Haven't been having any contractions though. I'm already 3 cm and 60%.

    To me it sounds like it is probably your MP. My MP came out as the snotty type whereas other's it literally comes out kind of like a cork. So the fact that yours was snotty with a cork type at the end sounds possible. Also many times it can have some blood in it; mine did not but for many women it does. If you are at all worried about it, call your Dr. office. They hear this type of thing all the time I am sure.

    That's what my mucus plug came out like, but had more blood.

    Thanks girls.

    I just went to the bathroom again and another big chunk came out, with no blood at all this time but still about the size of a quarter. Really hoping this is the start of something. :)

    mine looks that way but no blood. dr. said it could still be weeks until labor starts even though baby is low and I am 2 cm dilated

    This may be a stupid question, but does everyone lose their MP? And if you haven't, is it a sign that I'm not going into labor anytime soon?

    I'm pretty sure that lots of people do't lose theirs until labor starts. At least I hope so, because I have seen no traces of mine anywhere either!

    I lost mine the same way, no blood, the day after my membranes were swept, but that was 2 weeks ago and I am yet to have a single contraction!

    Just lost another big chunk (that's #3) and then afterward there was a lot of red streaking blood when I wiped. :) Fingers crossed...

    That's what mine was like for about 3 days; every time I went to the bathroom I'd get strings of it. No blood for me, so I don't know if I've lost all of it. Definitely dilated more (2cm to 4 in a week) after all that came out, so I'm thinking that's what it was.
