So today was the first day of my record keeping. I have until next Tuesday to prove to my OB that I can control with diet, and so far, so good!
Fasting: 95 (Goal 60-95)
2 hour post breakfast: 115 (Goal 60-120)
2 hour post lunch: 93 (Goal 60-120)
I have to say, I'm kind of obsessed with checking my blood sugar, I guess because it's new?
Meals
B'fast - 2 pieces of toast with peanut butter
Snack - 6 Triscuits and 2 slices of pepper jack cheese (I cheated and had a Lindor truffle also)
Lunch - small salad with Italian dressing and tomato, and tuna casserole with peas
Snack - 3 cups popcorn with butter and some cottage cheese
Dinner - ? Chicken and some veggies and 3 carbs of something
I can DO this!!! Anyone else have GD? I'm going to start updating my blog with my records and meal ideas if anyone's interested.
Re: Day 1 of GD Diet...
My OBGYN said that because of the PCOS, I'm at high risk for it, so they'll bring me in at 20 weeks to do the test.
How much different is the GD diet from the PCOS diet? For the most part, I try to minimize the carbs, or if I do have carbs, I pair them with a protein and a fat.
Is it a "true" diet, like where I can only have 1400 calories a day or something?

No, it's not like the PCOS diet. You MUST eat carbs on this diet, and there are no calorie restrictions. Basically you eat 1-2 carb (15-30 grams of carbs) for breakfast plus a protein, 1 carb + protein for snacks, 2-3 carbs + 3 proteins for lunch and dinner. It's pretty easy but it's hard to plan for when you're used to being scared of carbs like I am. When I mean carbs, I mean = pasta, rice, bread, etc.
