Solids question

Hello all,

I have been trying to get DD to eat new solid - real fruits and veggies rather than the purees, but she typically spits them out and then turns her head.  I've tried bananas, strawberries, apples, eggs, carrots and a few others.  She's good with bread, waffles, and meats (meatballs, chicken, turkey) but seems to not be a big fan of things that are even remotely mushy / slimy.  Any tips that helped your LO start to enjoy different solids?  TIA

Re: Solids question

  • Wow!  I'm not sure.  Maybe she's just a picky eater?  I'd say keep trying and give her any nutrients that she'll take for now.  Maybe she's just not ready yet....

  • Loading the player...
  • try celery sticks, cucumber wedges [halved and then quartered], raw broccoli, raw zucchini slices.... if she likes bread, you could try mashed avocado or pureed veggies on toast, my dd loves that. the bag of frozen mixed veggies [peas, carrots, corn, green beans] is a big hit too. also i came across a recipe for veggie pancakes that sounded really good, i'll have to see if i can find it online anywhere.... hth! :)
  • I think they are all different.  My LO is strictly on all solids but that was her choice.  We still had over 30 jars of babyfood and she refused to eat them.  But now that she has a taste of them all she is becoming more picky and hates several veggies she used to eat.  You could keep trying but maybe just keep giving purees.  There really isn't a huge rush and she isn't even a year yet.
