Twins run heavily in mine and my husbands family (I know it only goes by me but stay with me for a minute) When I was talking with my MIL she said some of her family members didn't know they were having twins until after their 10wk US. I had my last visit when I was 6wks4days and there was no sign of two cuties in there. Do you think there is still a chance of there being twins in there or I can stop hyperventilating thinking of caring for three babie. (hubby still counts as one lol)
Re: Question for you multiple moms
i wouldn't worry about it. the chances are basically nil that you're having twins if they didn't see them at your first u/s.
it's not impossible (i'm sure there are ladies here who didn't see their twins at the first u/s) but very very very improbable.

At a 6 week ultrasound, you can see a sac. So if there were 2 sacs, an ultrasound tech should be able to see both. But its very possible to not see both until later.
That being said, I wouldn't hyperventilate any more at the chance of having twins. If your first ultrasound showed one baby, that's what you have until proven otherwise.
I think you are off the hook.
I had one super early u/s at 4w6d and we only saw one sac... a week later at 5w6d there were two!

sFET 11/9/11 - Beta 11/18 BFP!
We found out we were having twins at 6w, so yea, they likely would have seen multiples in there.
There have been people who saw one, then went back at 20w to find out there were 2, but those numbers are really low.
Ditto.
Well I guess I am the minority. I had a 6 week ultrasound and they didn't see twins. At my 13 week ultrasound it could not be more obvious.
While my triplets were not detected at an 8w u/s, the scan was nearly a 1 minute "let's-peek-and-take-a-glance-at-your-baby. There was no looking around and we likely saw baby C (my son) who is not an identical and did not share a placenta. We did discover them at 12 weeks.
IMO, it's highly unlikely that you are pregnant with twins.
Steal my kids picture or pretend they are yours, I will find where you live and ship all of their dirty diapers to your doorstep. Promise.
