My Dr. scheduled a c-section for Sat 1/8

I had an appt last night and my BP was pretty high 143/96.  So Doc sent me to L&D to be tested for pre-e.  After a couple hours they finally rolled me onto my side and my BP came down to 120/60.  My urine came back neg for protein and blood work looked ok so they sent me home. 

I had a follow up this morning and my ankles were pretty swollen so Doc is concerned that I may be headed towards pre-e.  I also have borderline GD (diet controlled, no high readings, just a couple high fasting numbers) and our baby is measuring big, 97th pecentile.  I figured I was looking at an induction at 39 wks but because of the new swelling and BP issues, we have scheduled a c-section at 38 wks. 

I am not dilated at all, the baby has not dropped and I am barely effaced so I was told I had a 60% chance of a FAILED induction if we went that route.  Not to mention, because of my BP she wouldnt be able to let me labor for very long anyway before I would end up in surgery.  So here we go. 

Im nervous because I have never had any kind of surgery.  I am also super excited to finally meet our little one!!!!  Today is my last day at work so Im going to go home and make peace with it all and just look forward to our little blessing that is on its way.

    I know it's scary - I have one for Thursday and have never had surgery either. Just think though, in 4 short days you will be holding your LO. Good luck!!

    Good luck my dear! I had to have a c-section as well and it was my first sx ever too! Try not to worry about it too much. It really wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. :)

    I think its a good thing your doctor told you the odds for induction my doctor didnt tell me anything i was induced at exactly 37 weeks i was 60% effaced and a fingertip dialated and after 14 hours of labor i had only gotten to 4cm and needed a emergency c-section. If my doctor would have told me my odds i think i would have went for the c-section right away instead. I wish you luck on ur c-section it wasnt as bad as i imagined it would be, and was also my first surgery. T&P's coming your way!!!
