Big Tub Bath...

Just curious as to when you put your LO in the big tub for a bath. Betty Jane (at 8 months) is still pretty good in her little whale tub, but I think she might be ready for the transition soon.

On a different note... Betty Jane is 8 months today and I'm already starting to get way too emotional for her 1st birthday in 4 months. I swear I'm going to be a blubbering mess!

Re: Big Tub Bath...

  • IDK since our bathtub is such that we had to get a bigger plastic tub for him, but had our tub been accessible I would have started bathing him in there around a year.

And blubber away. Turning 1 is huuuuge!

  • The kitchen sink is our tub of choice.  She shouldn't grow out of it anytime soon. I will be a emotional mess tomorrow for her bday and when she is too big for the kitchen sink. Every little step is amazing.

  • I think we went to the big tub around 7-8 months, but it wasn't because he was getting too big or anything.  We had a ton of road trips/vacations this summer and knew we didn't want to haul his tub along with us.  So we got him used to the big tub kinda early.

  • In no hurry at all for that. She's almost a year & half, still in her infant tub & she'll stay there til she knows how to wash herself. Haha. I'm sure it's a little painful being on your knees going after a squirmy slippery baby in a much bigger tub. I have a nig enough counter to place the small tub on...no bending required.

  • We moved him to the big tub at 7 months, he was getting bored just sitting in one spot in his duckie tub.  I think if Betty Jane can sit up well and likes to crawl around it's probably time.

  • We used the munchkin inflatable duck tub (target has it for $13, I think) inside the big tub for each as a transition until I felt comfortable that they could handle sitting in the water.  Plus it was less water to use and I didn't worry about heads getting bonked etc.  We used that with DD until about 18 mos when she outgrew it and with DS, we had to stop using it before 1 yr because he was so huge.  Plus it's easier bathing him with his sister right now.  And yeah, they do grow up so fast that it's crazy.

  • It is pretty awkward bending over the big tub and trying to keep our hands on him. We are currently using the inflatable duck tub in the big tub.  We were using a different tub up on the kitchen counter, and it was so much easier but he is too big now.  I honestly think that the easiest way would be to just climb in there with him!

Ask Robyn to post the unbelievably adorable chunky photo of Aaron in the tub. It is still one of my favorite Bump baby photos.

  • We moved DD#1 out of the tub as soon as she was stable sitting. We only had one bathroom at the time and moving that baby tub around all the time was annoying. DD#2 will take baths with big sister once she's stable as well. I'm still spongebathing my almost 4 month old and she loves it.

this.  Ellie loved her duckie tub, but loves the bigger play area even more!  Plus, DH thinks it's easier to wash her up.

  • Jack love the regular tub, but my back - not so much.  I try to bathe him in the kitchen sink as much as I can.  I have extra deep sinks, so he will fit in the it for a while.  He has the ducky tub, but I don't use it as much anymore.

We actually just gave ours away to a coworker, whose SIL is in rough financial shape and is having a baby boy soon.  Aaron just sits (or walks--eek!) in the big tub now. But we didn't transition him until he was over a year.

    And, Amy, here's the pic:

We have this tub too. I agree on Aaron's pic! Chub in the tub, so cute.

  • I think we made the move around 6 or 7 months. We bought a really nice bath mat at babies r us that covers the whole tub.
