Baby Shower

Hello Chicago ladies!

 My best friend is pregnant and she is the first of all of us to be having a baby. A few of us are throwing her a shower in about 6 weeks. I am looking for any suggestions around making her baby shower fabulous. None of us have ever been to one before! What happened at your shower that made it wonderful? Was there a great game you played or memorabilia from it you took home? All suggestions are more than welcome.

    How nice of you to throw her a shower! I'm sure she'll appreciate it whatever you do for her. I haven't had a baby shower yet or been to one in a while so I don't have too many ideas.  However, there is a board on thebump dedicated to baby showers.  That might help you.  Good luck!

    Check out the Baby Shower board. 

    I am not a game fan. I prefer showers where people can socialize and chat with mom-to-be. I also am not a fan of diaper raffles or anything like that. Great food, great friends, a beautiful setting....that's what is important!

    I had a lot of fun at a shower once decorating onesies for the baby, especially if your guests are crafty/arty. 

    Have fun! Whatever you do I'm sure she'll enjoy and appreciate.

    I haven't had a shower yet, but I've seen this done and I know that when I have a shower, I want this - 

    Ask each guest to bring along their favorite children's book, to build a library for the baby.  

    This wasn't done in lieu of other gifts, but in addition - and it was really fun to see what everyone's favorite books were!  Of course, depending on guests' budgets, this may not be an option.  If the mother-to-be really needs help getting bottles, diapers, a car seat, etc., she probably doesn't want a bunch of books instead.
