Pregnant after IF

Did any of you have success with only 2 embryos?

My egg retrieval was yesterday-only 4 eggs retrieved.

only 2 fertilized with ICSI.

I'm so disappointed.

Transfer is tomorrow at 1030.

  • You have 2 to transfer...that's great.  It better than none and it only takes one so you have 2 chances.  My sister had 9 eggs retrieved but only 3 to transfer.  Of those 3, only 2 were of any quality but they felt bad just tossing the third one so they transferred that one too.  She just got a positive beta on Monday.  Good luck!  :)

  • DrVWife only had one to transfer and is pregnant!  It can and does happen!  It is quality over quantity.

I never had many and I had quality issues.  My successful cycle was with 2 and I am pregnant with one.

    Good luck!

  • I had 6 retrieved and only two fertilized normally with ICSI.  We did a 3dt and both took (results in my siggy). :-)  Good luck!!!

  • We had 4 at the time of transfer and transferred 2, the other two didn't make it to freeze.  So I guess yes we had success with only 2 embryos.

  • I had a day 3 transfer with 2 embryos and it took! Just one took, but that's one more than I had before!!  We were fortunate enough to be able to freeze 5 embryos, so I guess I have a lot of transfers ahead of me!

  • Yes!  I'm currently pregnant (one baby) from a cycle that sounds exactly like yours - 4 retrieved, 2 fertilized with ICSI, 3 day transfer.

I was disappointed, too, but if you think about it, it's pretty rare for an RE to transfer more than 2 embryos.  So, while it would be nice to be able to pick the "best 2" from a bunch, and have some leftover to freeze, when it comes to THIS cycle you probably have all you need!

I had more eggs retrieved from my first 2 IVF cycles, but never ended up with more than 2 embryos to transfer.  For us, third time was a charm.  I really hope everything works out for you.  :)

  • We only had 1 embryo at the time of ET...and it took.  It was our 2nd full IVF and really it was better than the first but not great.

We got 5 eggs...only 3 were mature.  The other 2 were over mature.  We ICSI'd all 3 and 1 immediately stopped growing.  The other two made it over night but by the next day 1 of those stopped growing.  We did a 3dt of our one little embryo and then hoped and prayed that it would stick.  As you can see by my siggy...we are now 16 weeks pregnant and our little Nemo is doing great!

  • Good Luck tomorrow. I had 3 retrieved, only 2 mature and fert w/ ICSI.  # day transfer of both and we are expecting twins.  This was our 2nd full cycle of ivf.

  • I had 4 retrieved, 3 fertilized with ICSI but one stopped growing the first day.  I had 2 fair embryos and am pregnant with twins.  Best of luck!!   focus on those 2 strong embryos and try not to be disappointed.  njohnson gave me great advice once- "try not to compare yourself to others"  I remember being so envious of women who had like 20++ retrieved, everyone is different and every embryo has a chance!

  • We transferred two and are now pregnant with twins.  Try and stay positive you just never know!
