Enfamil Users - Question and Slight Vent.

Wow this sounds like the stupidest question ever but... is there a difference between Enfamil Premium Infant and Enfamil Lipil? I looked on the Enfamil website and I couldn't even find the Enfamil Lipil (I was rushing though)

I think I am the bonehead mom of the year. LO uses Enfamil Premium and a few days ago I bought Enfamil Lipil (it was the only thing available on the Navy Base we live on). I honestly thought it was just different packaging since the packaging seems to keep changing.....

So for two days she has been really fussy (more like really pissed off) around bedtime...seems gassy and yes she is pooping more often and it has looked different.  She has a cold and I really thought she just felt cruddy and these things were from her cold.

The funny thing of it all is the DH is the one who noticed the difference on the cans. Now he thinks he deserves the 'Dad of the Year' award!

  • I thought they changed the name from enfamil lipil to enfamil premium? I could be wrong.

  • I think they changed the name because now they have an Enfamil Premium Infant (for >3 months) and an Enfamil Premium Newborn (for 0-3 months supposedly). But the only difference is that the Newborn version has more vitamin D in it. (According to the nutritionist in the NICU where I work). We use the newborn version for the Vitamin D because we only supplement once or twice a day.

EDIT: Okay after some research, they didn't change the name, the premium version just has prebiotics and more vitamins and minerals than the LIPIL version. So if your LO was used the the premium maybe something different just made her gassy? IDK. *shrug*

  • They changed the name from Premium Lipil to Premium Infant.

On the Premium Infant packaging (its yellow now instead of gold) it says in the corner "formerly premium lipil."

I think there's also a plain lipil version that's not premium (without the prebiotics and stuff) unless they got rid of that one.  I found both.

  • Wait, so we can keep using the Enfamil Newborn formula even though she's three months? We supplement too and I worry about her VtD.
  • There is some differences thought slight,  I compared the ingredients on the two packages. It definately looks and feels different. While the Infant Premium is more powdery the Lipil is more sandy and feels thin.

Thanks for the input! We will see how she acts after 24 hours of being back on her normal formula.
