Short Cervix?

Had an u/s today and they said it looked like I had a shortened cervix.  The did the protein test (can't remember what it's called) and actually checked it (it was closed).  They are having me come in next week for a vaginal u/s to see if everything is ok.  They didn't seem that concerned about it, but everything online keeps saying that it could deem being put on bedrest.  Anyone have any experience with this?

Re: Short Cervix?

  • They will probably just want to monitor you to make sure you don't start to dilate. If that happens then they probably will put you on bedrest, but it depends on what point you start to dilate. At 29 weeks I don't think you have anything to be concerned about, at least not yet. Just let them keep an eye on it and try to relax, it doesn't mean anything yet.

  • They told me the same thing at my appointment last month, and on Monday I went in for an u/s.  The doctor said everything was fine, the length hadn't changed and it was just barely inside the "normal" range.  Don't worry too much about it yet.
