Parenting after 35

Someone replaced my sweet 17 month old...

with a very cranky 18 month old boy.

I have no idea what is going on but when Matt awoke from his afternoon nap yesterday he was a total crankasaurus and was like that until I left for work this morning.

Nothing would make him happy, he wouldn't eat anything for dinner, it took forever for him to fall asleep and he was up before dawn. All the while screaming and crying and hitting and even biting. And of course he just wanted Mama and pushed Dada away.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for when I get home from work that he is back to normal.

  • What is his teething status? Does he have his molars? Since you mentioned he was biting, that's what came to mind. Hoping that's what it is and it quickly passes.

  • Sienna has never been cranky when her teeth have come in....EXCEPT now. She must have a molar coming in on one side. She is constantly sticking her finger way in back on the side. Maybe he does have something coming in?

  • DH said he thought he saw a new tooth but I couldn't feel anything. Matt already has four molars and it was hellish when they came in.  He WAS drooling a lot the other day. Hmmmm. Well, I actually hope that what it is because that means I will be closer to done for teething!!!

  • Screaming, hitting and biting sounds like frustration from pain...molars or gas/tummyache maybe?  Hope he's better today!  Have you tried gripe water?  It works when S has a tummyache and acts that way at night.

  • That's so hard!  M has been going through cranky phases lately.  When I came home from work the other day, DH looked like he had been beat up.  He looked at M and said, "She's home now.  Go yell at her!"  I felt bad for both of them. : (
