2011 SAHM Book Club *~*Sign up*~*

Hi ladies,

CANNOT believe I just wrote 2011, the past year really flew and so many of you met and even exceeded your 2010 goals including: KMS1025, EnglishMajor03, jnksmom, seans_grl.  Congratulations!!

Should you want to participate in the book club weekly check-ins for 2011, please reply to this post with the following:

* Your 2011 goal

* The last book you read (you can leave this blank as we are beginning a new year, it's simply a great way to remember where you left off)

* The book you are currently reading

The above information you provide will appear in the weekly check-in that I'll post on Mondays (no more separate Google Spreadsheet, your information will appear inside each weekly post!) and all you have to do is reply to that post with whether or not you finished reading the book you have listed as "Currently Reading" (or that you have put the book down for a bit or just gave up on it!) and any other books you may have finished since the previous week's check-in.  I'll update your number of books read to date for the following week's check-in.

If you'd like to see the past two years of our book club check-ins, including our personal recommendations for great books, view our Google Spreadsheet.

The first check-in will be on Monday, January 10th!

  • I will be starting to SAH with LO next week and would love to be in this book club. I have never been in a book club. What is a reasonable amount of books to shoot for, it being my first time and all?

    Hi there and welcome!!!  It's not a traditional book club per se, it's more of a weekly tracker and motivator for you to read as much as you can and would like.  You pick which book you want to read and you can tell us about it once you finish it or tell us why you put it down/gave up on it, which is just as helpful!  :)

    I would say one book per month is doable but I also don't have a newborn baby, congratulations!!

     Goal: 15 books.  I used to read that many in a week, and I haven't read anywhere near that since Miles was born.

    Last Book I Read: The Misadventures of Maude March - it's a book written for middle schoolers about the adventures of an orphan-turned-outlaw girl and her sister, set in the Old West.  Great book, and even though it was an easy read, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

    Current Book: Don't have one, yet.  Actually trying to decide between a couple.  I'll let you know when I decide. :)

  • Thank you so much for doing this again this year!  I love this book club; it really keeps me motivated.

    My goal for this year: 40 books.  That was last year's goal, and I didn't quite make it, so I am trying again this year.

    Last book read (in 2010):  "Lost and Found" by Carolyn Parkhurst.  Fun read, and well written.

    Currently reading (started in 2011):  "The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook" by Ben Mezrich.  Love it so far!  It's the book that the movie "The Social Network" was based on.  I realize that it's a dramatized account of the founding of Facebook, but either way, it's a great story.  I loved the movie too.
