I was cracking up at the woman who profiles the cashiers and intentionally picks the teenage guy, because she figures he'll be nicer about her massive stack of coupons than a white-haired lady will be. I thought that was totally non-PC and totally hysterical.

I did, I feel like a moron. I get all excited about saving $11-$20 bucks every time I shop and these people get there food for free. A little much, but they eat for free almost!! Crazy!

Ha! I do the same thing!
That show was crazy! I don't remember if they ever said how much time these people spend on their extreme couponing. Do you think it's just an hour or two a day or all consuming, 8-10 hours a day?

Thanks for the reminder ladies. Gonna set the DVR right now to record that show.
I have a binder with tabs by categories and I put the coupons inside of business card holders inside the binder. You can see everything and works pretty good. :-)
Papps- That show with the weird obsessions sounds crazy. Wouldn't the comet make them sick?? Gonna record that show too...although I'm sure I'll get the eye roll from DH by doing so. LOL

That show was insane! I can appreciate being frugal, but they kept so much crap in their houses! The one couple said they donate to their church's food bank, but come on, their house was still full of so much crap. And I agree, I bet they spend a lot of time on the effort to gather coupons and match sales.
I saw some of the highlights and I know most of them spend 60 hrs a week on couponing. Some even go dumpster diving for coupons. That is alot of time couponing.
They seem to stockpile but the amount of toilet tissue, comet, toothbrushes, etc would drive me insane. I love a good deal but come on. At that point, you might as well pay $$ for a Costco or Sams Club membership!!
I noticed that alot of these coupons are for processed foods (which we do not buy) so I try my best on using coupons on toiletries.

Ok I stole this reply from a girl on my local board but found it so insightful and too complicated to try and rephrase.

Like every other "reality" show, it was a huge set up. I coupon, so I know the rules. First of all, almost every store has a 4 coupon limit, meaning you can only use four similar item coupons per transaction. So no, you couldn't buy 1100 boxes of cereal and use 1100 coupons, you could use FOUR. This includes the stores shopped at for this episode, these transactions were worked out with the stores in advance for the sake of the show. Also, if something is a good sale with a good coupon = free or close to free, it is always sold out. Stores never have so many in stock that you could fill carts and carts, I know Nathan Eagle pre-ordered the Total cereal but it was for the sake of the show. In fact all the transactions were preordered.
I actually follow Joanie's blog The Krazy Coupon Lady. She doesn't really get into dumpsters! It was all for the sake of the show. And they weren't garbage dumpsters, they were the newpaper only bins at a local recycling center and she had permission to be there. They don't say or show it on the episode, but all the purchases made for the show were donated to food pantries. You can see Joanie's trip to the food pantry on her FB page. You can also check out the third couponer's FB page, Coupon Diva. I don't know a thing about the first lady, didn't even see that whole segmant. Nathan Eagle is a frequent poster on weusecoupons.com, I don't know if he has a site or blog. But rumor has it, he hold garage sales out of his garage to make $$ off his stock, I dunno if that is true or now. I am sure TLC made them all sign contracts about what they can and cannot say about the details of the taping.
DH and I watched this for the first time last night and my jaw hit the floor. Going from $600 dollars in groceries to $20 and lower is absolutely ridculous.
I also price match and use coupons when I go shopping but I am not dumpster diving for coupons...absolutely insane.
