35wks peeps... tell me how you're sleeping..

because I'm so exhausted from lacking sleep, but each time I go to bed, it's soooo uncomfortable, I can't sleep at all.

I have been sleeping on my left/right rotating it just about every 45 mins or so or whenever one side becomes uncomfortable. However each time I rotate, the baby shifts with gravity and moves to the side that I'm sleeping on. With each movement, I felt like I was going to puke and all my internal organs are shifting with it.

I have tried sleeping with snoggle, two body pillows, a ton of pillows arranged in every way possible, sleeping sitting down style, sleeping on recliner, sleeping at angle.. I'm running out of options.

Tells me what's the best way you've come up with for sleeping?

  • s-leep?  What is this thing you speak of?

    I wish I had some advice, a warm shower before bed and my H rubs my feet and legs, it helps my relax.  I am up at least every 30-40 minutes.

  • I took unisom for the first time yesterday and I slept much better.

    I sleep with a "husband" pillow behind my regular pillow, so I can sleep sitting up if heartburn gets too bad. I also take unisom now, which helps me fall asleep easier and stay asleep longer. And I make hubby wait until I'm asleep to come to bed, that way I'm in a deep enough sleep that I dont notice as much.

    i am also doing the pillow fortress around myself in bed, recliner (that i had poor SO lug up 5 flights of stairs so i can be comfortable..pssshhh not working anymore), sitting up, half propped up.. nothing is working.

    SO is even sleeping on the couch so that i can have the entire bed but that great gesture is not working at all either.

  • I'm not.  Sounds like you and I are in the same boat... except I don't have a recliner to (try to) sleep in.  Between the volcanic heartburn and DH's sleep apnea, I'm terrified to think what sort of "sleep" I'll be getting once LO arrives!  Maybe the sheer exhaustion will help...
  • Not sleeping well at all! And turning/flip flopping is painful due to sciatica. I hate it!

    H offered to sleep on the floor, because I'm actually able to nap if I lay across the bed.  Sleeping on the couch would just make our dog nuts...I couldn't let him do it I'd feel terrible and not be able to sleep.

  • I am basically sleeping sitting up with pillows propped behind me but I use the term "sleeping" very loosely as I am at least once an hour. I think I will sleep better once the baby is born.

    For real. The only way I can sleep for more than 2 hours at a time is when I take Tylenol PM or Unisom.

  • I'm dealing with this right now.  Last night in the last 4 days was the best sleep I have had.  I slept on the couch.
  • i dont want SO to sleep on the couch but he is a very stubborn man so he insists. i waddle away with a pouty face every night as i walk alone to bed. he wants me comfortable but he knows its not working but then with him in the same bed as me he cant sleep cause of my rolling over every 45 minutes or getting up to pee every 15 minutes.

  • Sleep?  Sleep?  I'm actually looking forward to LO arriving since getting 2 hour sleep sessions will be better than getting up to pee every hour and then not being able to get comfortable for 30 minnutes at each time.  I've tried it all minus the medical intervention....pillows pillows pillows...etc.  Leather recliner was my friend last time and I will likely start that soon, but, its not overly comfortable, just easier to get out of than bed.

  • I'm not trying to rub it in, but I'm still sleeping like a baby. (Excuse the stupid pun, hardy har) I've been pimping this out ever since I got it, right around Thanksgiving. Go to Overstock and get yourself a memory foam mattress pad. 4 inches is the one I got. Best $100 I ever spent, and it's not like you're not gonna use it after the baby comes, so it's actually an investment kind of. I was not sleeping, and my whole body felt like I got hit by a truck every day. You don't fall into bed and immediately go "AHHHHH!" but two days later, I felt 100% better, and I still feel great!
  • I must be one of the lucky ones. I get a good amount of sleep at night. Two nights ago I had a bad sleep night, but other than that, I can't complain. I sleep with the Boppy Total Body Pillow, which isn't the most awesome pillow but it works. I don't know if this helps, but I do about an hour and a half of walking every day that I can (an hour at lunch and a half hour with the dogs around dinner time), and I try to only take naps if I am completely utterly exhausted. I am so tired by 10PM that there is no way I can't sleep. I don't eat after 7 or 8 or so, and I stay away from any caffeine after I eat dinner. I remember pre pg, I would sleep horribly any time I would eat late.
  • I'm not 35 weeks yet, but I found a nice recliner on Craigslist and slept in that last night. It was nice, until my 2 yo came upstairs and climbed in with me in the middle of the night and fidgeted everywhere. 

    I'm thinking I may look into Tylenol PM. My ribs feel like they are going to cave in when I sleep on my sides.  

  • My question is this...how on earth are you rolling over in bed???  I can't do it!!!  I either have to suffer or have my hubby roll me over :(

  • Terribly. I can only get about 2 hours at a time, am always turning, needing to pee,  and being woken up by pain in my hips.  Sigh. One more month. (Then the babies will keep us up, but at least we'll be more comfortable!... I hope!)

  • I use Tylenol PM when it gets really bad, but I always feel like the baby moves less the next day so I don't take it that often.

    Other than that I pretty much just roll around all night trying to find a comfortable position and then wake up really tired. I could fall asleep right now...

  • i switch from my left to right side off & on allll night long and i could probably open up a pillow store with the amount that is on my bed right now. if its not me having to pee that wakes me up, its my hips & knees hurting so bad or charlie horses. sleeping these days is just so uncomfortable. im ready for her to come out now! lol

  • My hips hurt TERRIBLY now that she's dropped, and I can't roll over at night anymore. :( It also hurt to get up too.

    But other than that, I'm pretty fortunate to still sleep great. I don't wake up at night to pee unless I've violated my self-imposed 'No drinking after 6pm' curfew. I do drink half a glass of water at night RIGHT before I go to sleep, but that's never enough to make me get up to pee. 

    I also have 2 pillows between my thighs to try to help my hips feel better, but it doesn't really help. :(

  • I sleep for maybe 1-2 hours at a time. Last week I slept really well one night just from being so exhausted from not sleeping. I was dead to the world...otherwise I have to switch sides, its either hip pain or my ribs and stomach hurt. I have a pillow fortress and I used to LOVE my body pillow now I cant stand it. SO and I don't share blankets, maybe it's weird...but I stuff it behind my back and under my stomach so by the time I am done stuffing there isn't any left for him!

    I wish I could take drugs, but I am to paranoid when I don't feel LO moving and would end up loosing sleep over that!

  • I rub in Bath and Body aromatherapy sleep lotion then use two pillows behind my head/neck to keep me somewhat propped up. I also use a body pillow to "spoon" and wrap between my knees. I tend to lean forward into the pillow rather than putting all of the weight on my hips ( my hips are killing me most days). I also put another pillow behind my back to keep me from rolling on to my back in the night. This helps but I still wake up every couple hours with heartburn or the need to pee so then I have to fight all of those pillows again to get situated lol. Some nights I sleep well and others not so much but either way by 10 AM I am ready for a nap!

    I will say this...as soon as I fall asleep I sleep soundly...until I am rudely awakened by the horrible pain of my bladder feeling like it is about to rupture. Then I go...and it's start all over again with trying to get comfortable. Im so hot all the time, I sleep on top of the sheets and comforter and I sleep with about 5 pillows....one for my head, two for my back, one under my belly and one between my legs

     

  • How do I sleep?  Not well.  It's a lovely mixture of my back hurting, difficulty rollling from side to side, and the best... getting up to pee every 2 to 2.5 hours.  I love my LO but please get the heck off my bladder!

  • Not well.  I am sleeping in the bed with DH still; I sleep with the boppy pregnancy pillow.  I get up about every 2 hours to go to the bathroom and then try and rotate to the other side...which doesn't work the best.  If I get really uncomfortable I go and sleep on the couch; but then it seems to take me about 30 minutes just to get comfty & get to sleep.  It hasn't helped that my toddler has woken up the last 2 nights in the middle of the night and wanted to hang out & play (what is up with that?!)

    To be honest the last 2 days I have left L at daycare an hour longer just so I can run home and squeeze in a quick nap before I have to pick her up from daycare.  Not the best option, but it helps me get thru the day.
