1. how many times does your LO wake--Usually once, sometimes twice.
2. what do you do to get them to go back to sleep--If we haven't gone to bed, nurse in her room. If we are already in bed my husband goes and gets her, I nurse her and he takes her back to her room (yes, I know I am very lucky in this dept!)
3. when and how do you put them to sleep initially--7-7:30 bedtime, read, sleepsack, nurse and lay her down (she's generally still awake and talks to her self for a bit--we go get her if she cries and rock her)
4. what are their naps like--One 1.5-3 hour nap per day, after lunch (around 12:30).
5. what time do they wake for the day--Usually between 7:30-9am. She's pretty crabby if she wakes up before 7:30.
Oh man, this makes me feel so much better and not so alone!

1. how many times does your LO wake Most nights only once around 3 a.m. On a bad night usually twice and sometimes we get lucky and he STTN, but that's rare
2. what do you do to get them to go back to sleep Typically we just let him fuss and he falls back to sleep. If he really screams a long time, I go to check on him and will nurse him back to sleep.
3. when and how do you put them to sleep initially We get pjs on, read a few books, nurse and then I lay him down usually awake. He fusses for a minute or less and goes to sleep.
4. what are their naps like He usually takes two naps per day for about 1.5 hours - sometimes more, sometimes less.
5. what time do they wake for the day Wakes up the first time at 5:30-ish and then goes back to sleep after nursing for about an hour or two.
2. what do you do to get them to go back to sleep nurse
3. when and how do you put them to sleep initially 7:30 by nursing
4. what are their naps like When I do it, he goes down at 11:30 by nursing (MIL rocks him) and he sleeps in the crib for an hour. Then he wakes up and I hold him for a 1 hour "afternap."
1. Depends on the night. Sometimes it's 0. Other times it's 1 or 2.
2. Depends on how awake he is. Sometimes we can just replace his paci, lay him back down and rub his back. Other times we rock him and give him a small bottle. If all else fails he joins us in our bed.
3. 7:15 - bath, bottle, rocking
4. We just transitioned to 1 nap. It's generally at around noon for 1.5-2 hours.
5. He's usually up around 6 (so he sleeps about 11 hours at night and 2 or so hours during the day)

Generally wakes 3-4 times per night. Although of late it has gotten a bit better and we are cautiously optimistic that we may be at 2-3 times per night.
We usually nurse back to sleep but if she hasn't been down at least 4 hours I rock her back to sleep as I know she isn't hungry and she just woke herself up.
Halie goes to sleep at 7pm each night. We do bath, books, rocking and nursing. She does not nurse to sleep but we usually rock until she is quite drowsy or completely asleep before she goes in the brib.
Naps are typically 3 per day. A quick 20 min nap about 90 min after waking, a second morning nap around 11am that lasts an hour and a final nap in the afternoon anytime between 1 and 3pm that can last 1-2 hours.
She wakes between 630 and 7am each morning.

My daughter sleeps through the night now, but I was very interested in this post because of past experiences with waking and the current occasional times she wakes due to illness, teething, etc. I noticed some trends and was wondering if any of you saw these too. It seems that many posters nurse their LO's back to sleep or bring them into bed. I wonder if this is leading your LO's to wake up for the reward of milk or your company.
I used to nurse my DD back to sleep too. Then, at some point, I realized that she wasn't really hungry but really only wanted to spend more time with me (even if it was in the middle of the night). So, from that point forward whenever she would wake, I would listen on the monitor to see if she would settle herself down enough to fall asleep. If so, I would leave her alone and not walk-in to check on her. If she couldn't settle herself down, I'd have to go into her room. I wouldn't pick her up though (on a friend's advice). Instead, I would roll her onto her side (facing away from me) and pat her gently on the back until she settled down. Then, I would slip away when she seemed like she was dosing off. This really worked for us and I noticed over time that she tended to sleep through the night more frequently.
I stopped giving her milk in the middle of the night but decided to leave a sippy cup of water in her crib in case she got thirsty. That's worked really well for us too. When she's just thirsty (not hungry) or has a scratchy throat from a cough, she's able to soothe herself with a sip of water and it won't damage her teeth.
I wish you all the best. I know how precious sleep truly is and how tough it is to not get enough of it.
Let her cry for at least 5 minutes, if that doesn't work, and it never does... I nurse and rock her back to sleep.
3. when and how do you put them to sleep initially
Bath around 6:30, dressed for bed and play if she isn't too tired. When she is tired usually by 7, I nurse and rock. She usually goes into the crib sleepy but awake.
4. what are their naps like
About 1.5 hours around 9, then 1+ depending on what we did between that time in the afternoon. The afternoon one can be anywhere between 1-3pm.
5. what time do they wake for the day
Lately between 7-7:30 but today she was up at 6:15 (this is rare).
