Had a rough day... went in this morning for a monitoring appt and as it turns out, we needed to do the IUI that day. Of course it was one of the few times MH wasn't there bc he had a meeting, so he had to bail on his mtg and come in (and I was freaking out about the time bc I had to wait for him to come in, then wait for them to prep the sperm, then wait for the procedure and I had a meeting that I HAD to be at...)
Normally I'm happy for early ovulating- the sooner I O, the sooner I get to the 2ww, etc. But our timing was a DISASTER. Because I was close, but not there yet yesterday, our RE told us to have sex that night, thinking we'd do IUI Wed or Thurs. Well, we couldn't have sex bc MH worked, so he just took care of it himself. And then as it turns out, IUI 16 hours later. Since we are dealing with MFI, it was pretty much a nail in this cycle's coffin.
The volume was even lower than normal, so we ended up with like 3.9 million, and only like 75% motility. So I don't really have much hope this cycle. The nurse was AMAZING though. She was so positive and so great- she basically said it only really takes 1 million and she has seen so many things happen, it's totally possible. Considering I was pretty much in tears before she walked in, it was nice to have someone so encouraging.
Anyway, sorry this is so long. I am just really disheartened. We spend so much time waiting and for us to kind of have screwed up our one shot this cycle is just tough to deal with. Thanks for letting me vent ![]()

Im sorry it was so rough for you, but at least it wasn;t too late and 75%? are you kidding me?? That is great motility!!! The norm is 50 or below depending where you look and 75% is excellent! 3.9mil isn't bad considering the motitlity!! Don;t count this cycle out!! You are very much in the running for a BFP!

Thanks ladies, I really appreciate it- I needed a little perspective. You are right, I am thankful that we at least had a shot this cycle. It definitely could have ended up being a bust bc of the holidays and the office closings.
Pepper- you're right about the motility, I guess I was used to the wash clearing most of the non-motile ones and with the 75%, it means that there are even less viable sperm than the low count and with his usual morph numbers at 3%, we aren't talking about a whole lot of moving, normal shaped sperm.
Cutebride- THANK YOU! That really makes me feel like we may have a chance
Wow, sorry to hear that your IUI was so stressful yesterday! I would have been freaking out, too. MFI really puts a wrench in things, doesn't it? I always get afraid to do EOD because I don't want to end up Oing during one of the off days and be stuck BDing again when I know the count will be really, really low (if that makes sense).
Don't lose hope just yet though - remember that it only takes one! Good luck during your 2WW!
after anovulatory diagnosis and TTC for 1 1/2yrs with several medicated cycles and one chemical pregnancy, we have our first bundle of joy!
