Another trip to the doctor...grrr...

Miss Bev (LO's DCP) called and Delaney is screaming and won't lie down for her nap.  She got sick last week and I was concerned then that perhaps her ears were bothering her, but we were out of town and once we got back this weekend she seemed to be better.  I have an appointment with her pedi this afternoon.  If it's her ears, this will be the 4th ear infection since August.

I'm so frustrated - the first time she got an ear infection, they gave her amoxicillan.  These past two times she's gotten augmentin.  I hate for her to continually get antibiotics - I'm of the mindset of let thy body heal thyself.  But when it's my baby...ugh!

For those of you that have gone through many ear infections - at what point do they discuss tubes?  I've read that the new line of thinking is to wait it out a few days to see if it's viral or will heal on it's own so you are not giving excess antibiotics.  I hate that she's suffering and hate going through this every month or two.

  • Aww, poor girl!  Any chance it could be teeth? Ellie cut a molar this weekend and she was not a happy camper...Don't know what to tell you about tubes except I've heard a few people say it was the best thing ever - I know their anatomy until about 3 - 4 year old is what causes a lot of the ear infections and as the grow, the canal starts sloping down naturally and helps things drain better.  GL

And I love, love, love your snow bunny!

  • awwww, man!  I'm so sorry Carla, that's gotta be nerve wracking to see her like this.  Are you a strong believer in antibiotics?  I sometimes go the route of homeopathy and it usually works for Nicholas (keeping fingers crossed that it continues).  I've also seen too many ear infections on him and I hate seeing him so upset over it.  Thankfully, my pedi said that by 2yrs old, they usually grow out of it, sure hope that's true!  Hope Miss D feels much better soon.
