Parenting after 35

Anyone still awake?

I am at my wits end tonight. We've all been sick for over a week. L was feeling so much better today, he ate well, no more diarrhea and even wanted to play. He didn't nap well, but went down super easy at 6:30 tonight.

About 9:30 he woke up and has been crying since. He doesn't want me. He doesn't want DH. He doesn't want his bottle. He's clean and dry. He had a dose of tylenol right before bed. At 10:45 I ran to the store and got some Nighttime Orajel, but it hasn't seemed to do much of anything. He doesn't appear to be hurt in any way. He is just crying.

Any ideas before I lose my mind? This is killing me that I can't comfort him.

Re: Anyone still awake?

  • I'm so sorry. I can't imagine how hard that is for you. I have no advice except just staying near your little guy so he knows you're there if you need him.

  • The 10:45pm run to the grocery store for Night-time Orajel has helped for a few minutes. He dozed off from about 11:15 until 12:10, cried for about 10 mins and is now back down again.

Poor DH has to be up for work at 3, so I'm trying to stay in the living room where I can hear L and get to him more quickly, but its going to be a long night (and day tomorrow!)

  • After the 1am waking we had one at 3:30 and he has been awake since 4:45. Tired, yawny and very sleepy- but awake.

  • Aw, poor little man. I hope he's feeling better today and you both get some sleep.

  • Poor Mommy and Liam.  I hope that he feels better tonight and wants to sleep.
