So lost about preschool!

I was hoping to get our son into Kindergarten in the fall but none of the public or charter schools are willing to budge (he's 15 days too young) so we're going to give it a year.  In the mean time, I'd like to at least get him into a good preschool program.  Oh, and as an aside, last March when he was tested for preschool at the local school district, he tested in the 5-7 year old range.  We are in northern Macomb County, can you recommend a great preschool that's not too expensive?

    If you want public school, have you looked into Little Turtles in Macomb Township.

    If you don't mind preschool in a Catholic school.   I sent mine to Saint Thecla in Clinton Township.  They have a couple choices, 5 days/wk all day program or 3 days/wk 1/2 day program.  They'll be having an open house at the end of this month if you're interested.

    Also I do know that there were a couple children that had the same issue with the cut-off so Saint Thecla allowed their children to skip Kindergarten after 4 y.o. preschool.

    Kindergarten in Michigan is not mandatory, it is just recommended. Any child can go right to first grade. Private/Parochial schools don't have to abide by the 5 by december 1st rule. If you send your son to a Private/Parochial school they may let him before December 1st.  My cousin was born December 12th, and goes to a Catholic school and just turned 5 this past december, and started Kindergarten this year. She was like your son very smart, they were going to send her just to first grade when she was older at the public school b/c she couldn't get into kindergarten early, but she needed kindergarten for the social skills, and more time to be a "kid" she had also already completed two years of preschool.
