night before hair styles

copy from 0-3 board...

I am going to be returning to work soon  : (  and want to try to find some ways to save time.  I would like to be able to do most of my hair at night instead of washing, drying, styling in the morning.  I have hair a couple inches past my shoulder and is fairly straight, maybe a few waves.  I've tried just washing it the night before then styling in the morning but it always looks horrible.

Any ideas??  Thanks!  I've tried washing it at night and wrapping wet hair in a bun and sleeping like that - that turned out okay but I am looking for a few more ideas!

Re: night before hair styles

  • I have shoulder-length hair with a few long layers. I only wash my hair on Tuesdays and Fridays, the days I don't work. I style it on those days, and then in the in-between days, I just shower and then do a simple re-style, maybe some volumizer at the roots and a hair straightener.

I think the reason your hair is turning out badly might be because you are simply washing it and then waiting 8 hours to style it. I would try washing it and styling it, then doing a quick fix in the morning.

I will say, I think long hair is much easier than short. With #1 I had a short haircut. I deliberately grew out my hair when I was PG with #2 so that my hair would be easy.

  • I have found that what works best for me is to wash and style my hair strait on Mondays, then on Tuesdays, I spray on some dry shampoo and work it in while I use a shower cap and shower. Then I curl my hair. It only takes me a minute to put a few curls in it- much less time then to style each day. Saves me time every other morning, and I still feel that it looks 'fresh' this way. :) Hope that helps!
  • As the previous poster mentioned Dry Shampoo also called Hair Powder has really saved me time. I used to have to wash my hair every 24hours but now I can stretch it out to 3 days so it has helped alot. I used Bumble and Bumble Hair Powder, it is expensive, but i cut back my cost of shampoo and allows me to spend more time in the morning with baby, and that is totally worth it.
  • Ditto pps.  I shower daily, but only wash my hair a few times a week.  It was oily and itchy in the beginning, but my scalp has adjusted now and I don't feel it at all.  My hair is curly, so I just wet it every a.m. and maybe add a little styling product and good to go!  GL!
