My DD had blueberries for the first time last night and some more for breakfast. Tonight she had a soft yet slightly formed BM except it was mostly black. I know food can change the color of a BM so I wanted to know if anyone else experienced this. At first I threw it away and dismissed it as blueberries but now I am thinking, could it be something else? I hate blueberries so I do not know from personal experience if this happens after eating them. If it were business hours I would call her pedi but my pedi charges $15.00 for after hours calls and then I would pay another 20 if she wants to see her tomorrow. I would not think twice about calling if she had a fever or was acting sick but DD is acting normal and does not seem to be having any stomach issues. I have crohns so I know from personal experience that blood in stool usually is combined with pain and that is why I keep going back to the blueberry theory. TIA

Our LO had puree of blueberries, pear & purple carrot, and his poo was black the next morning... Food definitely changes the appearance of the poo.
But if you're really concerned, does your pedi's office have a nurse on-call hotline?
