I had my 35 week OB check today and my BP is elevated. The numbers alone were not a major concern to my doctor, but coupled with substantial increase in my weight from my last appointment and the fact that the numbers were higher for me, she is being cautious. Currently I have a trace amount of protein in my urine.
I go back on Friday for another BP check. If my blood pressure is same as today, then she wants to do a 24-hour urine collection (no biggie.) If those results come back unfavorable (and depending on how high), then the next step is modified bedrest until about 37.5 weeks. Then Baby Day.
If my BP is really high on Friday, well then I think Baby Day may be really close.
I didn't have this issue with DS and I know that women can develop pre-e in any pregnancy, but I'm freaking out a little bit. This is going to sound like the most selfish and dumb thing ever, but I'm mostly freaking out about bed rest and not being able to get all the things I wanted to get done before Baby Too arrives. My DH and mom are awesome and ready to help out, but I still feel like I should be able to get what I need to done by myself. I know I'm being unrealistic and silly.
So if you could spare some ***normal BP dust*** for Friday and maybe some ***chill-the-F-out-and-let-people-help-you*** kick in the pants, I would really appreciate it. ![]()
Re: Talk to me about pre-eclampsia
***normal BP dust*** for Friday and some ***chill-the-F-out-and-let-people-help-you*** dust as well.
Hope your Friday check is favorable!
I developed pre-e and ended up delivering DD at 34 weeks. The hardest thing for me to do was lay in bed all day and not do the things I felt like I needed to do to prepare for the baby. I felt like when people would help out they wouldn't do things the way I liked. Doing nothing is really hard!
To help keep my BP down I spent lots of time laying on my left side and drinking lots of water. Sending you lots of normal BP dust!
I had pre-e and delivered DD at 37.5 weeks. Mine wasn't severe, but I had been trending upward and then at that point, my bp was spiking high (seeing spots high). I had to spend a lot of time on my left side for weeks, because of my bp being up. Luckily I worked at home at the time, so she didn't put me on full bedrest.
Dust to you, but if they're catching it early, it's a good thing!
I had a very similar scenario to the one you're describing. My normally very good BP kept going up and up. I gained a pound a day for the last 3 weeks. I was on modified bed rest and then real bedrest for about a month. It was awesome. I think because I had two and was "high risk" anyway, my doc and I decided to go with the c-section at 36w3d. Actually, I was prepared to beg for the c-section.
As for your worries, you just have to let it go, you know. I'm sure you have 1,001 things to do, but in the end, your health and the baby's health trumps all those little things.
Lie on the couch, make lists for your mom and DH, and direct them the best you can with all that last-minute stuff. Read some good books, watch some cheesy movies, think good, healthy thoughts. Hope it doesn't come to bedrest, but if it does, it's not ALL horrible.
Good luck on Friday!
I know exactly how you feel. I felt the same way and tried to do too much (even though it was not a lot). My body truly paid for it. I ached all over and the swelling increased, a lot.
Try to see it as a mini break before the craziness begins. Lots of ***normal BP dust*** for Friday and some ***chill-the-F-out-and-let-people-help-you*** !!!!
I feel your pain. I was put on bedrest around 30 weeks for an injury and then my BP started rising and the major swelling started. Not to freak you out but I swelled so much that I gained 30 pounds in my last 7 weeks due to pre-e. The doctors were amazed by my swelling. Because I do not do well with bedrest, I ended up in the hospital at 35 weeks and had to stay there until they induced at 37 weeks. I would highly recommend avoiding that. Stay lying down and keep your feet propped up as much as possible. Lay on your left side. Drink lots of water and avoid foods with a lot of sodium. Read or do any acivity that helps you relax. It didn't help that I had to go to the doctor's almost every other day those last few weeks which is another reason I was hhospitalized. The driving there and back was enough to raise my heart rate.
I hope all goes well and rest, rest, rest. Pre-e is not fun!
Thanks y'all! I appreciate the info and support.
I know that things will be OK and I do need to take it easy. I'm going to just chill the eff out until I know more information on Friday.
Thanks for all the dust!
***normal BP and let others do things for you dust***
Hope you get some good news Friday!
