bathtub question

Is your LO still in the baby tub?

Ellie is kind of growing out of the plastic tub and wants to sit all the way up, but I don't feel comfortable just putting her in the the big tub yet. What do you do?

Re: bathtub question

  • We bought the Munchkin inflatable duck tub to put in our bath tub when DS outgrew the baby tub. He has more space now but isn't in the huge tub yet.

  • I bathe DD in the big tub. I was nervous at first, but she loves it!
  • I bathe DD is the big bath tub. She loves bath time.

I made the mistake of putting a little too much water in it the first time and she would turn her head and drink/lick the water. I have since made sure I don't put that much water in the tub. She has out-smarted me though, she now kicks her legs and then turns her head to catch the wave to drink/lick the water.

  • If you bathe in the big tub, make sure you have a non slip surface!  I just gave DS a bath while visiting H's grandpa and DS reached out, slipped and fell face first in the water.  I was there to grab him, but it scared the crap out of him- he cried and looked at me like "Why did you do that momma?!"  Heart breaking!

  • I will second the inflatable duck tub! Great buy.
  • We went straight from the infant tub to the big bath tub. I tried to use a bath ring, but Charlie still tried to lay down and not sit up. So, I just bought a non-slip bath mat to put on the bottom of the tub and sat him down. He's never fallen over, but he sits up very good.

I think if you LO sits up good, then you should be OK to put her in the tub. If not, maybe the inflatable duck tub or bath ring is something you would want to try first.

  • Well, my LO is too long for the baby tub anymore and I was tired of doing double duty bathing bw the baby and the 2 1/2 yo so I stick them in there together these days. The older one gets in first and plays, then I stick the baby in too. I just lay her down and support her head with my left hand above the water and wash with my right hand. She's done first and I hand her off to my husband or dry/lotion/clothe on the bathroom floor. Then I finish the older one and bathing is done in a snap. The baby actually loves to kick and splash in the water. She even turned her head into the water last night and didn't even care that water got in her eyes. I don't let her sit unassisted in the bath. That would be a disaster. Sometimes
