Re: not drinking/eating....ear infection
This sounds like more than an ear infection to me. When Emmy had RSV a couple of years ago, this is exactly what she went through and lost a lot of weight. (not saying that he has RSV). I did a lot of pedilite (popsicle). We also tried giving her gaterade (which she likes a lot more). I gave her whatever she wanted to eat (that included cookies)...I was running on the assumption that her mouth was bitter (like when I get sick, my mouth gets a metal taste in it). It might sound bad, but I also gave her cup of noodle and she did eat that too.
It sucks you have to deal with this again and especially with a baby to take care of. Hope he gets better soon!!!
so baby has RSV! i took him to dr on a hunch....and took toddler too...well toddler was fighting and strong at doc's office so doc didn't think he was dehydrated....his ear look better so the antibiotics are working...but still has fever once fever meds wear off...he said bring him back wed if still has fever but continue with fever meds...im thinking toddler HAD rsv...then ear infection...IDK i just want him better...but glad that i took infant for precaution!
not really sure why the docs ive taken him to have not been concerned with his lack of fluid intake!!!???? bil is an er doc...and he said to push down 1 oz of fluids an hour tonight....even if we have to wake him every hour....this is going to be a long night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For the baby, I would just give small amounts of milk but more frequently.
For the toddler, I wouldn't wake him at night...it's also important that he gets his rest to recover too. But if he doesn't like pedilite, you should really try gatarade because it's sweeter and has more flavor and so he may drink more of it.
RSV totally sucks and this is why we rarely go to public kid places during the winter time (i.e. chuckecheese!!).
