I swear, Strollers are going to be the death of me.
DH and I were going to use one of his sisters hand-me-down strollers, but after family members complained that we didn't have enough large ticket items on our registry, we decided we might as well register for a brand new stroller.
Here is where I need your help. Baby is due mid- Feb. I do not want a large travel system type stroller or one that I need to put the infant carseat in order to use the stroller with an infant. We live in Minnesota, so the earliest- depending on how soon the snow goes away- we would use a stroller outdoors is May-ish. By the time May rolls around, Baby will be roughly 3 months old.
We are looking for a stroller that we can use with a 3 month old, but we will be able to use ideally until baby is older. So something that has a low min weight and a high max weight limit would be best. Also, we are not looking for a jogging stroller either. I have been looking for a lightweight stroller but not one of the $10 umbrella strollers.
We went to BRU and we had the hardest time trying to determine which of the strollers would work for us.
Do you ladies have any suggestions/ideas?
Re: Strollers
Not sure if this will help you but what we did was register for just a lightweight metal frame that our Snugride infant carseat snaps right into (I'm was with you on not wanting the huge, heavy travel system.) Not very expensive. And we also registered for the Jeep jogging stroller-for when she's a little older/heavier. I was going to need one anyway to well, jog and didn't want to do both the travel system and that.
Good luck!
I'm also buying a Maclaren Quest from my cousin. She had a bit of a stroller obsession with her daughters and had probably 20 strollers over a span of 5 years! It also pushes great and is pretty light. In fact, I pushed her 6 year old daughter around the kitchen in it, and it steered very nicely!
I would also recommend watching stroller reviews on youtube.com. I believe it's Baby Gizmo that posts them for just about every stroller made and they are quite helpful.
There are some snow-related ones (but I live in the South) for your geographic needs if you want; otherwise do a Bjorn or Ergo type carrier so you keep your LO warm right next to you.
We also really want the umbrella type stroller, and so far Inglesina and Maclaren are our favorites--should last several years! I'd suggest the Maclaren Quest or Triumph.
Use a carrier until winter is over, then you can start strollering.
