DH actually requested that I ask this, LOL.

We were in BRU last week and we heard a mom say to her child "Come here, puppy!" It wasn't bubby, it was puppy. We were horrified.

So here we are, wondering about others nicknames. We call DS B-rad, B, bubby,and most of all...handsome =]

ive always thought "b-rad" was cool... i have a buddy named brad and thats what they call him.. it took me a min to get it.. but i thought it cool afterwards

I don't think there's anything wrong with calling a child "puppy" it probably evolved from "bubby". I think its kinda cute.

Puppy is an endearing term. I have heard it several times from Jewish mommies. Not sure if it is a cultural thing. Not something that should "horrify" you to hear. Be horrified if you hear someone say "Come here you little shiit!"

Both girls have a million nicknames...probably not very smart since I understand that twins already have problems identifying their own name as distinct from their sibs. The one they get called the most is toots. It started as cutie patootie and was quickly shortened. It is a commentary on both their looks and their gassy bums.

Between DH and I and the rest of our family DD gets called lots of things:

Izzy, Bella, Belle, Monkey, Pumpkin, Peanut, Stinker, baby girl, dollface, Monk, Monk Monk...I think if it's said with love it's all good. My dad called me :butthead" growing up. I knew he loved me more than anything and it was just a pet name. Although he never called me that in public either.

I'd venture to say "puppy" is less horrifying than referring to your child as "Monster."

I call her Claire Bear (which was warned against in the baby name websites and we fell into the trap anyway) and Goosie.

DD2 is real name Tessa, and we mostly call her Tess, baby Tessa (usually DD1), and noodle.

It's wierd how stuff evolves. Somehow, I started calling her "Princess Buttercup" and "Maddie Lynne" (her name is Madelyn Kay)... I have no idea where those came from.

Also, "Gorgeous girl", "beautiful", "my lovely", "baby girl", "my baby", "angel", "goober", and of course, her name/nickname: Madelyn, Maddie.

DD name is Adina, sometimes I'll call her Adi, but usually I call her Peanut, peanut butt, pumpkin, pumpkin butt (this started with our dog who we called puppybutt....) which leads me to the fact that sometimes I'll say puppy by accident haha, usually when I go to call her bubby or baby girl (puppy girl comes out sometimes...) the downside to having 2 dogs and a baby. Sometimes I call her by the female dogs name too (Mercy) ooops, and sometimes I call Mercy Adina. I get tongue tied The main ones are Peanut, Pumpkin, bubby, baby girl.

My mom actually has this cute little thing she does with Chloe of all her nick names. It goes:
