We bought Grayson's dresser off of CL for $35! Great steal! When searching for ideas for how to refinish it, I came across this link

I love it! Not the bold yellow and red ares but the rest, how it looks really old and distressed. His room is a greenish blue color (behr jamaica bay) and I thought we'd do the first coat that color so it would come through and ultimately I want a cream shade on top. I'm not sure about the other colors to add in the mix, I'm thinking an expresso brown color and maybe an orange... One coat of each so the more you sand (distress) it, the more colors will shine though. It's our first piece of furniture for his room so hopefully we don't mess it up

Love distressed furniture! Another EASY approach is a product called crackle paint. You paint the dresser the color you want showing through the cracks and then the color you want as your top coat and put on the crackle. Looks like this:

We looked at crackle paint and really like the look of this too but I'm thinking we may try to do the one I picked and if we mess up or it looks awful then we'll do the crackle technique!
