Cancelled a volleyball tournament

I coach the senior girls VB team at my school. We were supposed to be away at an out of town tournament this weekend.

I spoke to my principal this morning and explained to her that I was pg again (she's known of my m/c's and TTC journey) because I was wondering if I should still go to the tournament.

My players have not been the most dedicated players this year and this tournament has been on, off, on, off and on again. I was just not sure if I wanted the stress of going out of town with them, the travelling, and the possibility of stressing about staying pg while away.

We decided that I would cancel the tournament. I feel horrible for the few girls who really wanted to play, but I feel like I have to do something for me this time. Now I have to tell the girls when we go back to school on Wednesday.

I hope I did the right thing.

    You did the right thing. For sure.  I know you feel bad.  But if the girls knew why, they'd understand!  My NP asked me to stop playing Vball @ 9.5 wks until 2nd tri, at least..

    It's not worth your stress if they don't all have their hearts in it. It might have been different if they were all excited and would make your life easy. It's great that your principal is so supportive!!

    You did the right thing.  As PP said, nothing is as important as looking out for you and LO right now.  Don't feel bad about cancelling.  They'd understand.

    I think you made the right decision.  While some of the girls want to play, having a team where most don't really makes it tough and not enjoyable.  I think it's better for the team (and you) to just regroup and try it again another day.

    Don't sweat it. A year from now these girls won't even remember, you'll just be their coach who had a baby!!
