Choosing a hospital and Dr. in Westford area?

I'm new to this boad and newly pregnant :).  I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for doctors and a preference in hospitals in the Westford area?  Lowell General and Emerson are both near my home.  Does anyone have experience with either of the birthing areas of these two hospitals?  Are there other hospital options I should consider?

  • Emerson is really awesome!  And if you are looking for a doctor there- Dr. Hale with Kramer OBGYN is great

  • Emerson is great!  I see Dr. Jamie Bond at Concord OBGYN.  She is wonderful.
  • Please do a google search for Dr. reviews on Dr. Kramer.   I go to Concord OBGYN and Emerson.  Also, Dr. Jordano-Alter at Concord OBGYN has Thursday appts at the Westford Emerson building.
  • Personally, Emerson is a bit of a far drive for me but I have heard good things about Dr Kramer. Although everytime I had an appointment, they called me to reschedule so I went with Women's Health in Drum Hill Chelmsford and they deliver at LGH. My BFs mom is a L&D Nurse there and has been for over 25 years and recommended me to them, said Dr Bass and Dr Galvin are really great, nice and calm people. So far so good with me. Good luck with your new Pregnancy!

  • I delivered at Lawrence General, which isn't too far from Westford. I had a wonderful experience there, and would highly recommend it to anyone! The nurses were great and I felt really comfortable being there. I was skeptical of delivering in Lawrence, but spoke to several close friends and family members who delivered there and they all highly recommended it as well. Plus, they have a level 2 NICU, so that really helped in my decision.

I'm not sure about doctors, but definitely check with whomever you choose to see which hospital they are affiliated with, and where they will deliver. Mine was in North Andover and they only gave me the option of Lawrence Gen and Holy Family.

    Good luck!

  • I live in this area as well. I'm currently trying to conceive. I used to go to Kramer OB GYN. Initially I liked them very much but then decided they weren't for me. I had heard/read a lot of bad things about them and found that I didn't want to move forward with them. Dr. Hale is a nice guy but he's kinda rough in his exams. I am currently with Woman's Health in Chelmsford. I have been referred to them by several people who have great reviews. The doctors I have seen there have been great. Also, the head of OB/GYN at LGH practices there.
