another ?... NB diapers

I've bought BG AIO's and understand that they don't fit a newborn right away. I anticipate using disposable diapers until LO fills out the BG's, but now I'm also considering just biting the bullet and buying newborn sized cloth diapers. What's the cheapest way to CD?? I don't really want to spend a lot on something baby will only use the first few weeks/months since I've already shelled out so much for the AIO's.

    I was under the impression that the AIOs are sized, no? I think the XS will fit a NB, unless you're talking about the OS pocket BGs. OS generally do not fit at birth.

    I bought a stash of the OS pocket BG4.0s and a stash of NB sized prefolds and covers to use until LO fits the OS. I have 48 prefolds and about 10 covers, which from what I've read here is really more than I need, but I bought them as a lot from another Bumpie who'd bought and prepped them and then decided to go another route (so they were prepped but unused). I think I paid just over $100 if I recall correctly. You can almost always find people unloading high quality NB stashes since they are used for such a short period of time.

    Ooops I guess I should have mentioned that they are the one size elementals. What kind of covers do you use?

    I have 7 Thirsties size 1 and 3 Bummis Superbrite size NB.

    My NB stash is all new (since shipping to Newfoundland can be a bit of $$ and hassle) I did buy 6 FB smalls off of ebay used, but only because the seller was in my city and I could pick them up.

    It consists of 24 PFs, 6 covers, and 20 pockets/ fitteds/ AIOs (since DH wasn't keen on the PFs plan.) It cost about $470. Since we plan on having at least one more, I was okay with it. Plus it let me try out a bunch of different things before buying my main stash.

    If I was looking to save money I would have gone all PFs and covers. I could have spent $145 for 6 covers and 48 PFs...

    I would say that whether it is worth it or not depends on your reason(s) for CDing.

    I waited until LO was about 11 lbs before switching to cloth, and I totally regret waiting so long!  If we have another LO, we will probably do something like:

    12 orange edge GMD prefolds

    10 fitteds (KLOs & some fun ones like MS/B4/Mutt/GM)

    2-4 AIOs lil joeys

    3 prowraps in NB & 1 duo 1 cover (I already have small covers, so hopefully that is enough and might make some fleece shorties)

    I'm hoping to find most of this used on spots.

    I am going with a 3 month rental in the newborn phase.

    the Newborn Rental Package from Top to Bottom (24 KL0s)

    or Nell?s Natural Baby also has the same kind of newborn cloth diaper rental package deal

    I also got a bunch of RaR lil joeys and am considering getting some prefolds too.

    I bought 4 thirsties duo wrap covers to go with the fittteds/prefolds and am hoping to make some wool ones too. we'll see!

    I bought mostly BG 3.0 XS.  I was looking on Ebay and the resale value is nearly as high as buying them new.  I'm going to resell these diapers as soon as I'm done.  We may have more kids in the future, but I'm going to worry about that when/if it happens and get my money back on these asap.
