Carseat...where to put?

Hello ladies! So where is everyone putting their carseat? I drive a sedan and my husband drives an SUV. I have heard that the back middle seat is safest, but I have talked to many people who put the carseat in the back passenger side since it is easier to get to.

 What are you all doing?

Thanks!

First place car seat installation techs look- in the owner's manual. I suggest you do the same. Or look up a place that does them.

Back middle is not always the best choice depending on seat type. It varies by year, make, and model of car.

This - depends on the car.

This.  Mine is going back middle because that is what my owners manual and the manual that came with my seat tell me is the safest.  My car has side-curtain airbags as well, which aren't safe, to my knowledge, for babies in carseats.

  • Safety over convenience.  If your car can allow a seat to be in the middle then I would do that.  I have a Honda Pilot,  I get in the car with DD and then lift her from my lap to the car seat.

If I get T-Boned, I would want my child to be in the center to lessen the probability of the door slamming into her.

This.  When I had my Civic I could put the car seat in the middle.  In my Forester they say not to put it in the middle so I have it on the passenger side and will put the new car seat behind the driver.

  • We have a Rav4 and the rear seats are 60/40 so we had to put the seat on the passenger side. It had nothing to do with convenience, as pp suggested.

  • I recommend the car.

  • Well, I don't have a middle seat, so it is going behind the passenger seat in my car....not quite sure if we will even ever put her in DF's car....he probably shouldn't be driving it, let alont putting an infant in it.  I will only let that happen if he fixes it.
